I found the quality of the pictures fantastic. It got a clear, non-grainy picture of my dog running just before sunset. The Digital macro function ... ...clarity and quality of the picture.
The zoom is good, but the digital zoom is not really worth using. I have not actually used it very much, because the quality of the picture is quite greatly reduced. This hasn't been a big problem for me though, because the non-digital zoom is very sufficient for all the pictures I have taken so far.
I bought a case separately and that would be recommended, because I'm not sure how ... more

I found the quality of the pictures fantastic. It got a clear, non-grainy picture of my dog running just before sunset. The Digital macro function is absolutely amazing! I was very very impressed by the clarity and quality of the picture.
The zoom is good, but the digital zoom is not really worth using. I have not actually used it very much, because the quality of the picture is quite greatly reduced. I bought a case separately and that would be recommended, because I'm not sure how long the huge screen would last if it was being bashed around.
The metal casing is beautiful, with a smooth finish. Apart from being an all-round good camera for taking pictures, it is also a very cute camera. It comes with 3 profile options for the backgrounds and sound, including a dog bark for the shutter sound and birds tweeting for when you turn it on. It also has a fantastic feature of turning the photo (when you are viewing it) around when you turn the camera, so instead of having to press any buttons to view a portrait picture, you simply turn the camera and it does it automatically. Another great feature is the slightly touch sensitive navigation buttons, which if you touch lightly will come up with options which you can then choose.
All in all, it is a delight to use and very user friendly. The screen is big enough that you can set it to play a slide show of your pictures and a group of people can all see them at the same time, clearly.
I would recommend this camera to somebody who wants a small, lightweight camera that they can take around with them wherever they go, knowing that it will take whatever picture they need it to!
Advantages: Clear images, auto focus, brilliant video playback. Disadvantages: A little bit heavy.
...clearer than the Sony T10. For those that want a slim camera, i advise to buy the Sony series or the Canon Digital IXUS I Zoom which is so cute! And for those that don't mind, this camera is definitely the one to buy for those that love taking pictures. ...

Advantages: small, easy use, great quality, good battery life, uses SDHC Disadvantages: very wide angle lens, no case included , not cheap, no viewfinder

The battery life is excellent when you consider the LCD size it needs to power up! Copy batteries are only £5 on eBay and likewise with cloned Canon cases from China (which are superb value/quality but choose your seller carefully)
Overall: A nice camera and no regrets about buying ...

Canon has yet again created a camera of superior quality with the Ixus 860 IS. The high quality metal finish is second to none, its a very solid camera with a good weight to it. Great features. Is good especially when used with the ISO boost. Really like the time-lapse video feature. Screen is very clear even in bright lighting and I don't miss not having a view finder at all. WA makes taking photos in confined spaces a breeze. Menu is easy to maneuver ...

the best advice i would give to any one is first go into a shop and review every brand for the product you are lookig for and then select the one that your instinct sys its made for you...
