Canons iconic box & circle design has literally been given the chop - the top and bottom corners of the meaty, metal IXUS 90 have been beveled for a now, not then, feel.
Beneath the classy surface lurks some serious tech too. The 10 megapixel photos have beautifully crisp detail and vibrant yet realistic colours, the image stabilizer is excellent and the screen is a superb 3-incher. Red-Eye Correction quickly and easily removes red-eye in camera. It can be set to remove red-eye automatically as you shoot.
Movie modes include Long Play (LP) for VGA (30fps) clips that use half the normal memory card space. Capture a gradual scene like a sunrise or blooming flowers for accelerated playback with Time Lapse movie.
The face detection tech is one of my favorites of all, this will make sure you get the best out of you photos by auto setting optimum focus, exposure, flash & white balance. Alas, the control system is a mess, not helped by a directional pad that doubles as a scroll wheel. What a shame it was nearly great.
