This is the second IXUS camera that I have owned. I bought my first IXUS on recommendation from a friend who had recently purchased one and bought my second IXUS based on my own personal experience with the IXUS camera's - they are outstanding!
Advantages:
The images produced by the camera are very sharp and the focus is always very accurate in relation to other compact digital camera's. I have compared images taken from this camera to the images taken by my friends who have a host of different digital compact camera's and nothing comes close to matching the image quality of the picture taken using this camera and these are not only my comments everyone agrees with me and have vowed to buy Canon IXUS Camera's next time around - even viewing the image at 100% the images are sharp and clear of noise all the way up to ISO 400 (ISO 800 and above show noise)
The video capabilities also impress me although there is nothing that seperates Canon from the comptition in this category - you can shoot video at 1024X768 at 15fps or 640X480 at 30fps along with some other lower resolution options
The camera also has some very nice features such as:
Stitch-assist which allows you to take panoramic photographs very easily by displaying your previous image as an overlay to the one you are about to take so you can light up your panoramic shots on the go making post-processing that much easier
Colour accent which allow you to make an entire photograph black and white except for the chosen colour - house of fun to be had with this
Face detection which works suprsingly well - I was sceptical about this feature until the I tested it out - it actually works amazingly well and can detect many faces in a photo
An interesting features which makes a lot of sense is the camera's ability to take photographs at a lower resolution (nobody actually needs 12MP) by cropping the image on the senor - this in effect gives you additional "zoom" without compromising on image quality - the same could be acheived by cropping the photo on your computer after you had taken the photo but a lot of people dont have the time to do this - this is a great feature (called Digital Tele-Converter and Safety Zoom for those interested)
The camera body is made of titanium which is stronger and lighter than steel - the camera is beautifull to look at and feels good in your hand; the quality of the product is obvious and as such I would still consider it reasonable value for money
The Camera is also very quick at starting up; from the moment you press the power button the camera is ready to take a picture almost instantaneously - its slower at shutting down but this doesnt matter so much
Disadvantages:
3.7X Optical zoom is a little lacking - especially compared to the offerings from the Panasonic Lumix range - consider waiting for the Canon IXUS 970 IS due in March
Competing cameras can shoot faster - i.e more pictures in same elapsed time than the canon IXUS series

This model of Canon IXUS 960IS is new to the digital IXUS range of compact cameras.Its 12MP with 2.5 Inch wide LCD screen camera to be talking in most general sense. It uses the DIGIC III procesor for faster and better performance and image processing. Some of the specifications can be listed as :

...I bought the Canon Ixus 960 IS as a solution to taking a digital SLR, plus lenses etc. due to hand luggage restrictions as it easily fits in a pocket. The image quality is pin sharp, focussing exceptional and since I have problems with camera shake due to arthritis I was overjoyed to find that the image-stabiliser technology works really well, except in the very darkest of night shots (taken on the cruise ship's deck). Facial recognition works surprisingly ... ...The 3.7x zoom is the only real drawback, but it's a small enough niggle. In use I found it easy to swap between the different shooting modes, using the scene mode for most of my pictures. The 'aquarium' mode was especially useful for photographing fish fighting over bits of bread thrown to them by a restaurant owner in Elounda and the 'night scene' mode produced some excellent quality pics of my husband, sat across from me, at an outdoor restaurant. ...

...and ended up buying the Canon IXUS 960IS and thus far am impressed! The body work is made of Titanium which is a big plus if you tend to chip or break your camera and the 2.5 inch screen is just right, not too big that it drains the battery and not too small so you cant see it. There are many options on this little camera, including Optical Image Stabilizer (anti-shake)

I've managed to try the ... ...pictures have come out a treat, and now enjoying looking back at my memories. One extra feature that this camera has which swayed me to buying it, was the view finder. Many Digital camera's today do not have the view finder as the screen on the back is enough, but in sunny conditions the screen is sometimes hard to see, and you need a viewfinder to take the picture. This is a big plus in my opinion!

I bought this in november last year from Dubai where i halted for a week before going to India, i bought it for approx £185 which compared to the price overe here in london is quite cheap.
This 12 mega pixel camera just caught my eyes as i was loooking for a good digi cam and i most of the times i prefer cannon. So i bought it after seeing the features of this lovely camera.
It has 2.5 inch LCD Screen, it has image stabilizer technology which helps ... ...Optical zoom lens, there are differect scenes modes which is good, so which in itself is good so that you can try different scenes to click your images, this camera can be used for proffesional use as well.
You can make movies as well with great quality & Bulit in speakers, it also has the face detection facility which unlike other camera who have a button for it in this it is inside the menu.
One thing i can assure is you will get best picture ...

I bought this camera in December 2007 and enjoy when ever i take a piture with it.
<p>The picture quality is excellent, high end 12 mega pixels camera which is best available in the market.
the face detection feature is nice.</p> As it supports SDHC card, you can put 16 gb card and take full length videos, the video mode is quite good.
You may find that it occupies large file sizes,but itz ok for a 12 mega pixel camera.
