Working close to Manchester City Centre I always like to have a camera with me as there is always something going on and even even the odd actor to be seen. The problem though is that while my trusted Sony W1 is a great camera it is a little bulky to put in my pocket. Recently I was lucky enough to win a gold Canon Ixus i zoom. (5 Mega Pixel)
The first thing you notice about this camera is the size, approx 9.5 cm long, 4.5 cm wide and 2 cm deep it is smaller than my mobile phone and easily slips into your pocket. The monitor is an ample 3.9 x 2.9 cm. Although looks have never been that important to me when choosing a camera I have got to admit it looks great. Of course you would expect any camera bearing the canon name to be a good performer and of the highest quality and so far this would seem to be the case.
The only problem with such a small camera is that there is no room for a viewfinder. This would give added support when holding it to your eye and so cut down on camera shake as well as saving battery life as you could switch off the screen. This is however a small price to pay for the benefit of a camera that you can take anywhere.
The package includes a 16 MB SD card which is just about enough to find out if the camera works. A rechargeable battery and and camera station to charge the battery (this takes about 90 minutes) as well as a wrist strap and remote control. There is also software to allow you to upload images to your computer and all necessary plugs and adapters as well as a disk containing the full instruction manual. I would have preferred this to be in booklet form as it means having a computer is a necessity when buying this camera and you have to be near one when learning how to use it. (I suppose you could always print off any section you may need to refer to later.)
Don't be fooled by the small size as this is certainly a well specified camera and the menu once you get used to it is easy enough to navigate.
Lens 2.4x optical zoom (38-90mm zoom in 35mm film equivalent terms)
Shooting Modes
Auto Manual Stitch Assist - allows you to shoot images and merge into one panoramic image on your pc. Macro - close up to 10cm Portrait - blurs the background to make the subject stand out Landscape My Colors - allows you to change the colours Scene Mode - various settings to suit the shot such as Kids&Pets (higher shutter speed for moving subjects) Indoor (gives true colours under tungsten lighting) also Snow. Foliage, Beach, Fireworks and Underwater (when using all weather case which can be purchased separately) Movie - 640 x 480 10 frames per sec or 320 x 240 20 frames per sec.
There are 3 methods of metering, Evaluative (readings from various parts of the image) Centre Weighted Average (giving prominence to the centre part of the image) and Spot (correct exposure for the image directly in the centre of the frame)
You can choose the size of your photos depending on how large you expect to print although I usually use the highest quality though this takes up more memory. I upgraded to a 2 MB SD card for just £10.99 including delivery from Picstop (see earlier review).
All in all this is a great little camera that can be carried anywhere and produces good results.
Advantages: Stylish design Disadvantages: Slow shutter lag
I'm in love with this camera- my husbands borrowed it for an airshow today and i feel like ive got a limb missing!
LOOKS
Very very stylish. About the same size as a mobile phone- in fact, mine has been mistaken for one a few times. Mine is purple but it comes in other colours too, including black and champagne.
IMAGE QUALITY
It is only a small camera yet it produces clear, crisp images. It is great for taking indoor pictures, useful if youve got ... ...but not often. The macro shots are very detailed- more than i expected. SHUTTER LAG
It will take a single shot in a around 1.8 seconds, which is quite slow. This is fine if you are taking a picture of something still, but trickier if you are trying to take a picture of something moving. Saying this, my children rarely stay still and i never seem to have problems getting a good picture of them.
EASE OF USE
It is very easy to use- all the different ...

Snap Snap! Review ofCanon Digital IXUS I Zoomby

Advantages: Sexy looking with brilliant quality pictures Disadvantages: Small screen, hard to see previews of pictures
A Christmas present certainly much appreciated, this camera is a must have gadget. It's light, slim and very attractive looking design, only 9.6 x 4.5 x 2.3cm in size certainly beats all camera's I've seen for looks especially the nice chrime finish and sleek black.
~*~Performance~*~
As far as performance goes, it is fast, easy to use with plenty of variation in quality type, mode etc. The camera is 5megapixels (which is very good for the price), ... ...would be its LCD screen is slightly small, at only 1.8" (due to the camera's small size itself) which is unavoidable, but none the less makes it hard to see clearly the pictures you have took.
It takes vary good quality, and large pictures, with a maximum resolution of 2592 x 1944, and it has a video capture mode, which has a resolution of 640x480. It has red eye reduction, which is useful for people but a word of warning, it does not work on dogs. ...

Advantages: takes excellent pics light weight and very easy to use Disadvantages: nothing
Canon ixus I zoom. I adore this camera so much a big fan of my sister's canon ixus I the 4.0 mega pixel version which also took excellent pictures. I wanted a very tiny camera that is light weight and easy to carry around. This is great to put in your handbag, as it is tiny as a mobile phone.
The I zoom is an upgrade of their ixus I, the 5.0 mega pixel camera that does not have zoom. This has 10 zoom, 2.5 optical and digital zoom altogether is 10x ... ...pixmania website; it comes with a docking station and a little remote control. If you connect the docking station to the TV you can view and use your remote to control the pictures displayed on your TV. This also came with a 16mb mmc card and a wrist strap. I had to buy my own leather case but that was easy to pick up from eBay.
First impression I was impressed it was much smaller then the pictures I have seen, of course I went to the shops where ...

Advantages: Design, Functionality, Usability, Adaptability, Connectivity, the lot. Disadvantages: Optical zoom could be greater.
The Canon IXUS iZoom has an inbuilt excellent 5 megapixal CCD that will allow the user to enlarge their images up to A3 size retaining crystal clear quality. The camera houses a 1.8-inch LCD display which is ideal for viewing back the photos you have just taken. The unit has a 2.4x zoom and a combined 10x optical/digital zoom
The camera has 16 scene modes that allow the user to refine the shots they have taken. The scene modes include sports, and ... ...as red eye reduction. It sports an insanely wide range of pre and post-capture options, allowing infinite levels of customisation and perfection of your images.
The camera is USB 2.0 compatible and comes with a very small 16mb SD card. I recommend you upgrade the card to at least 256mb to get the most out of your camera. I purchased a 2Gb card that can hold over 600 of the cameras very finest quality snaps. And we're talking pretty excellent quality. ...

Advantages: Great photos taken quickly and easily, small and quite long battery life Disadvantages: Has to be charged in dock
A fantastic camera that has served me well for over a year now (and seems to have retained its value as I bought it for £180 last year)!
There are many things that make this a great camera - first of all it is available in many different colours and is ultra-slim and small in width, fitting into the smallest of pockets so there's no need for a case.
The quality at 5MP is enough for most users and it's fast start up time and ease of use means that ... ...also be taken and they are of good qualiy also.
Reviewing photos is very easy and zoom is available so details can be made out clearly. The battery life is excellent and has lasted me over a week whilst on holiday and to charge it only needs a maximum of 3 hours in it's dock.
Overall this stylish camera is great for anyone looking for something a bit different!!! ...

Advantages: Very small Very fashionable Great specs Great price Disadvantages: No camera case in box when purchased.
...This is the exact camera that i am the proud owner of.
If anyone is thinking of buying a camera then this is the one.
I have never owned my own digital camera before and thought that if i wanted one that had a decent resolution and great features, then i would have to fork out a load of money.
But as i walked through the door of my local jessops, i was greeted with a smile and was asked if i was looking for anything inpaticular. I said to the assistant that i needed a camera with a long exposure length specifically for an art project that i was working on. He didnt even spend time showing me any of the digital SLR's that were worth well over £1000, he took me straight to the IXUSI7 i fell in love with it the moment i saw it.
He exclaimed to me that everyone else that worked in jessops owned there own I7.
He then showed me...

Advantages: Size, long battery life, 7.1 Mp, looks Disadvantages: small screen, not much of a zoom,
...Great little camera, has more functions than what i even need in a digital camera.
For starters, the 7.1 megapixels should attrach you instantly, as everyone who is buying cameras these days are mega pixel crazy.
for standard use, setting the camera on 2-3 mp and then snap away at your hearts desire, the 7mp is only used for a huge scene and you want to zoom in when offloading the pictures to a computer.
The I7 is made to be a pocket camera, so it can be pulled out at "kodak" moments to snap away. It surely is small enough to fit into a guys pocket for a night out.
Has a nice feel to it, as it is all made form metal.
Flaws,
-the screen is rather small. but you're going to be looking at the pictures at home Anyway!,
-there is no view finder, so when you're low on battery you can't take 1 last picture.
-The flash isn...

Advantages: easy to use, 7.1 mega pixels make for amazing quality pictures, available in other colours Disadvantages: None
...This is a truly brilliant product with a 7.1 mega pixel resolution which therefore makes for brilliant quality photographs. It also has an automatic viewfinder meaning that it focuses itself and then makes a noise once it is focused. It has three modes, a Play mode where you can watch any videos you have recorded etc, a Video mode so that you can shoot videos and a camera mode for when you want to take still photos. One downfall is that the memory card that comes with the camera doesn't hold many pictures meaning that you may want to buy a memory card seperately. A great feature of the camera that is good for myself is that you can automatically remove red eye from your photos. It does not come with any sort of case which therefore means if you are not careful you could easly scratch your camera, The zoom is brilliant and extremely easy...
