Personally, I'm quite comfortable walking around ... ...the lightest lens in the world, but when you see the quality of the images that it can produce, you know it's worth it.
The constant f/2.8 aperture allows you to really throw the background out of focus with gorgeous bokkeh (blur quality), while keeping your subject in focus. In conjunction with the Image Stabilisation feature, the lens allows you to take pictures in lower light situations that you previously may have missed.

Personally, I'm quite comfortable walking around all day with this lens on my camera. It isn't the lightest lens in the world, but when you see the quality of the images that it can produce, you know it's worth it.
The constant f/2.8 aperture allows you to really throw the background out of focus with gorgeous bokkeh (blur quality), while keeping your subject in focus. In conjunction with the Image Stabilisation feature, the lens allows you to take pictures in lower light situations that you previously may have missed.
One of the other benefits of taking photos with this lens is that people tend to get out of the way. They see the lens, they think you're a professional and they leave you alone and get out of your shot!
I'm a very keen amateur photographer and occasionally do the odd paid event and without a doubt, this is the first lens that I would put in my bag.
