Advantages 10.1 megapixel sensor, live view mode, great value for money
Disadvantages slow at 3fps, no autofocus on live view mode
Hi, I´m an enthusiastic photographer who is currently studying to become proffessional. I can personally say that the canon eos 1000d is one of the best cameras on the market for what it´s worth. It´s a great all-round camera that can be used by an amateur who´s never touched a camera, simply by putting it on program or auto. It´s also a very capable piece of equipment if you wish to take matters into you´re own hands and use all the manual features.
As far as the picture quality is concerned, I think that it´s 10.1 megapixel sensor is sufficient enough for anyone who wants to print anything up to medium sized posters, which for the price you pay, I think is quite impressive. If you wanted to print larger or wanted to be able to crop tighter, then you would be better off investing in a camera with a 15 or 18 megapixel sensor, which will obviously be more expensive. The 1000d has many features such as live view mode and great white balance settings, but I´m not going to go into details because this an overall review. What I will tell you is that Live View Mode is great except for the fact that you cannot autofocus while operating on this mode, which is a bit annoying. The features also cover the basic manual aperture and shutter speed modes, that you alter with the dial on the top of body. Also, if you´re looking for a camera that can snap away at ultra high speeds, then I don´t recommend it. It takes 3fps.
I cannot stress enough how hardy this camera actually is. Now, I´m not saying that I´ve thrown it against a wall to test it, but it has had a few knocks against my tripod and i´ts been thrown about several times at airports. Yet, I´ve never had a problem with it´s performance. In my opinion, It´s great value for money. It´s done everything I expected and more, and I have taken some very satisfactory photographs (quality wise).
Once again Canon have created the best amateur-proffessional camera on the market. If you are someone who has a passion for photography and would like to go proffessional, this is the camera for you.Jake
