the EOS 1D Mark III! Carrying on from where its predecessor left off, the EOS 1D Mark III is the result of 20 years of research. The EOS 1D Mark III is the fastest and most advanced digital SLR camera Canon has ever produced. With a dual DIGIC III processor for maximum speed at all times and a burst mode of 10 fps (up to 110 images), as well as ground-breaking resolutions, an impressive 10-megapixel CMOS sensor, a brand new 19-crosspoint focusing system and a 63-zone exposure measuring program, the EOS 1D Mark III has everything to impress. Besides all of these features, it comes complete with an extraordinary sensitivity of up to 6400 ISO and a host of other settings. The EOS 1D Mark IIIs LCD screen gives you the dual advantage of visual comfort and a live view shooting mode to make it even easier to get that perfect shot. This camera is ideal for action and sports photos, as its amazingly precise, and it has a new, lighter body with improved weather sealing and shutter durability. Everything about the EOS experience has been enhanced with the EOS 1D Mark III. Its the new standard in photography!
cameras, the DVK-E2 provides the facility to prove that images taken with the EOS-1D Mark II have not been altered, tampered with or manipulated in any way. The DVK-E2 is the successor to Canon s DVK-E1 and will work with both the EOS-1Ds and the EOS-1D Mark II. Recent well-publicised cases involving image-tampering by news agencies have identified a strong need for a system capable of verifying the originality of digital photographs. Without such a kit it is impossible for an agency to identify whether or not a given image has been enhanced or manipulated.
Advantages: Incredible Image quality, great look and feel, Disadvantages: Fairly bulky, but otherwise excellent
...to Nikon's D2H camera, however Canon have improved resolution and feature an extremely low noise functionality using the same technology as featured in the previous EOS 1D.
Excellent image resolution and increased buffer size make this a highly worthwhile next step and if you're thinking of purchasing for the first time then this becomes a really desirable option.
SD slot and USB connector are interesting additions as they suggest potential add-ons ...

Advantages: Rugged, professional, fast Disadvantages: Expensive
...Mk II is my fourth Canon digital SLR. I've owned the 300D, the 10D and 1D Mk I. It's important to note that you'd be hard pushed to tell the difference between pictures taken with this camera and the 300D, the 10D or the 20D. In 99% of situations the cameras would produce identical results. Every other camera that I've owned has let me down at some point, producing a rubbish image when I should have had a great shot. The focus hasn't been quick enough, ... ...the 1D Mark II. If I get a bad image, it's my fault. Metering is incredibly accurate, exposures are perfect. With decent lenses (and you wouldn't put rubbish glass on this camera) focussing is fast, very fast. It's always ready for the next shot, you never miss a thing. It's also environmentally sealed and you aren't worried if you get caught in a rain shower which can destroy cheaper models. I've had this for nearly a year and my jaw still drops ...

Advantages: 16.7 mega pixel, 36 x 24mm (35mm film full frame) Disadvantages: Very Expensive
...This camera out ways them all, with an impressive 16.7megapixels it out ways any SLR on the market. The camera offers a huge amount
17.2-megapixel, high-sensitivity, large single-plate CMOS sensor (16.7 million effective pixels) delivering image resolutions as high as 4,992 x 3,328 pixels.
Improved shutter durability, rated at 200,000 shutter cycles in the EOS-1Ds MarkII.

Lets not mastaken that this camera is for the rich/proffesional hobist, who knows how to take a quality picture. Its easy to use but can get harder when you place a large lense on. Manufacturer's product description
The new 8.2 million pixel CMOS sensor, faster DIGIC II imaging engine and ability to capture brilliant, eight-megapixel JPEG images at 8.5 fps in continuous bursts of up to 40 frames and RAW images in continuous bursts of up to 20 frames - thanks in large part to new Canon technology's innovative use of DDR SDRAM - make the EOS-1D Mark II the world's fastest pro-digital SLR camera. Building on the success of the 4.1 megapixel EOS-1D with its 8 fps, 21 frame maximum JPEG (or 16 frame RAW) burst capability, Canon doubled the resolution of the imaging sensor, doubled the size of the high speed buffer memory and reevaluated, redesigned and in some cases, actually reinvented the technology that makes the new EOS-1D Mark II camera the most reliable, responsive and remarkable professional digital SLR on the market. Key among those speed-increasing innovations is Canon's first use of dual 32-bit RISC CPUs to operate the camera's autofocus separately with one dedicated to detecting focus while the second controls the lens drive. Able to stand up to real world conditions in the field, on the sidelines or in the studio, the Mark II camera's exterior and chassis are constructed of a rugged yet lightweight and weather-resistant magnesium alloy. Its shutter is durability-tested to 200, 000 exposures (50, 000 more than on the EOS-1D), the body is highly weather-resistant with more than 70 gaskets and seals, and the camera's lens mount is made of stainless steel (and is fully compatible with all Canon EF, TS-E and MP-E lenses). What's more, the camera's ability to capture smaller JPEG files simultaneously with large uncompressed RAW files speeds postproduction workflow and makes providing prompt proofs a snap. In addition, Canon's new Digital Photo Professional software is especially designed to speed up the workflow of wedding shooters and provide much more comfortable operation than ever. With the Direct Print function, clients can see a printed image on site.
I decided to wait for 4 months after the purchase of this camera before reviewing it because I had coveted one for so long, that I thought there would be too much bias in my words if I wrote about it as soon as it was out of the box. It's taken a few... more
