I bought this camera in the last year of my photography degree, prior to this I had a Canon eos 30 film camera. I was concerned that digital technoogy wasn't evolved enough yet for me to make the change but my fears have been proved wrong after buying the eos 20d. Its a fantastic camera with excellent image quality and is very easy to use. Rght from when you turn the camera on (o.2 millisend start up speed-now thats quick!) it delivers a rewarding experience. The menus are easy to navigate through with plenty of option to set the camera up the way YOU want it. All canon EF lenses fit the camera so, if like me your making the change from film to digital it'll be easy if you've already got some lenses. the camera has the ability to adjust the film iso setting from 100 iso right up to 3200 iso (H setting) You can adjust the white balance or have the camera set if for you automatically so you'll get excellent pictures all the time. The batteries last for a long time too (about 200 shots with flash) hundreds more if your not using the flash. And only take an hour to recharge.
The body only kit (not including the lens) comes with a neck strap, battery, charger, instruction manual and software for your computer so that once you've taken you photos you can then work on them, file them away, send them on the web or burn them to c.d with ease. The camera feels well balanced and solidliy made with its magnesium alloy body. The buttons are all in exacly the right place and there is also a second control wheel at the back so that you can set aperture wih one and shutter speed with the other. the whole photography experience becomes more fluid. The auto focus system is second to none and finds its mark even in low light conditions. The built in flash is raised higher from the lens plane than on previous cameras to prevent red eye and the information display is clear and informative. Now onto the bad points.... not many to be honest only that the optional battery pack/grip extention is not the best fit- it does the job but could be better, also my only other grip with the camera is the size of the screen at the back to review the shots on once taken. it could easily be alittle bigger, However the quality of the screen is superb. All in all an excelllent camera from canon, well priced too conscidering it shares alot of software/functions/design from the eos 1d which is around 5 times the price! good work canon!
