In my humble opinion it is the best camera i have had the priviledge to use. It is aimed at experienced amatures to the profesional photographer, and at approx. £1000 (body only) it is not a purchase to be taken lightly.
I have had my (baby) since August 99 and it has seen me through thick and thin, seeing the rigures of life on the beach to sub zero temperatures in sunny bradford.
I am a very keen amature photographer hoping to go profesional eventually and the EOS3 is so full of delights that i have not yet managed to get to know it fully, and let me tell you,it can kick you in the face when the shots come back from the lab.
The main and most imppresive feature is the 45 point eye controlled focusing which allows you to train the camera to focus on the point you are looking at. This is invaluable when taking action shots or shots against very light backgrounds such as birds flying against the sky.
The EOS3 will take 4.7 frames per second on its own or 7 frames per second using a power boost pack. It also has a vast selection of lenses available from the expensive but excellent Canon EOS AF to the third party lenses on the market, which are also very good and are very reasonable.
This is a camera built to last also and has taken the odd knock or three.
If you are looking for a new camera and have £1000 to spare then give this a very close inspection, i think you will be very happy together.

(+) Fold out LCD screen, Image Stabilization, Zuiko lens quality, Picture quality, Flash options (-) Noise in low light, Too many buttons, Badly laid out, Too many gimmicks
Advantages: In my view the main advantage is this product capture 5 pictures per second. Disadvantages: But the pictures can't write to memory cards that fast

Review of CanonEOS 1Ds Mark III
Advantages: Versatility, sharp 6.3 MP pictures, huge battery time, uses standard Canon lenses. Disadvantages: Just a little short of professional standards with speed of multi-shots and with landscape shooting. Small LCD screen.
