After a month with this fabulous camera I realise that this was the one I have been waiting for! It suits my large hands and performs right up to every expectation. The Canon 40D replaced my 400D and is so much better in every respect apart from the additional weight! Personally I don't mind the weight as I know it will deliver the quality images I want and the weight adds a certain stability and balance to picture-taking. I use the Canon 17-85mm ef-s zoom lens which suits me (and my pocket) really well.
The many and various options provided in this substantial camera take some learning and will need quite a bit of practice to get right. I would have no hesitation in recommending this Canon camera to any photographer who is serious about making good pictures.
