Hi Ciao! My name is Al and I live in South Derbyshire with my partner Hannah, I love our dogs (Border Collies), messing with the cars and have a passion for photography. Rate my reviews, and i'll try my best to rate in return.
This is a digital SLR camera this is a Single Lens Reflex that allows you to see exactly what you are going to take a photo of via the internal mirrors of the SLR system which improves picture quality and ease of taking pictures.
It is manufactured by the well known brand Canon they make a lot of photography equipment and I see them as a trusted quality brand. This helped me make my buying decision when choosing this model of digital SLR camera. It is the updated model of the Canon EOS 400D which was a highly successful camera and really good quality so this camera has an awful lot going for it.
I bought this camera not for myself
but for my dad as he broke his old digital SLR which was a Konica Minolta Dynax 5D and was a 6 mega pixel DSLR, we thought about having this one repaired but it was going to be cheaper to buy a new camera than to attempt repairing the one he already had. He wasn't keen on the idea of having a different model of camera at first but he soon came around to the idea after working the Canon EOS 450D out and getting used to it, he even said that it was better than his previous camera.
12.2 Mega pixel CMOS (Complimentary Mental Oxide Semiconductor)sensor This feature helps take sharp images which are brilliant for enlarging and make cropping easy without loosing any quality from the image. It also helps take good quality pictures even when the light isn't brilliant. The CMOS sensor is also does not use very much power so you get a really good battery life.
3.5 frames per second shooting This is so you can just keep your finger on the button and it will take pictures continuously really good if something you are taking pictures of is moving so you can capture it in several different ways easily
Integrated Cleaning System Canon has created a clever and unique to only a couple of brands cleaning system, it prevents dust is a three stage method which includes 1 It has special materials that reduce dust generation within the camera. 2 A Self-Cleaning Sensor Unit that shakes any dust off the sensor every time the camera is turned on or off. 3 Stubborn dust spots are mapped and can be removed easily in Digital Photo Professional.
3.0" LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) with Live View mode An easy to view sharp screen for checking the focus and how well the picture is going to come out the Live View feature makes it so you can frame the image from the LCD and have a choice of focussing modes.
9-point wide-area AF (Automatic Focus) This helps take quality pictures when what ever your taking a photo of is not directly in the middle of your view finder. It has 9 points to focus. The central AF point is a high sensitivity cross sensor for fast and accurate photo taking but only works with f/2.8 and faster lenses.
DIGIC III processor It creates colours that looks life like that help re-create images are processed in 14-bit colour depth for finer tonal gradations. It helps save battery power and also works super fast though the menus. It also has really good white balance accuracy creates which this camera is well known for.
I bought this camera from Jessops a well known camera selling shop it was priced at £649.99 this comes with a 1 year manufactures guarantee, there are also a wide range or lenses available for this camera and Jessops do several money saving package deals that include accessories for this camera.
My dad has taken quite a few pictures with this camera and is really pleased with the out come, photography is one of his main hobbies (and used to be his job) so he knows quite a lot about SLR and digital SLR cameras.
He has found it easy getting pictures onto the computer and editing them with amazing results and pictures he can be proud of, the camera itself is easy to use and does not take long at all to work out all of the functions all though if you get stuck there is a really useful instruction manual included within the box.
Compared to our Nikon D40x which I highly rated not long ago this is an excellent camera and would certainly recommend it, but much prefer the price of the D40x.
