This is a good quality product that offers good value for money in the very short term. Although as with most electronic products, the value will deteriorate over time and should be able to get a cheaper version next year. It's a great little device with plenty of features that I would highly recommend. This really is a wonderful piece of kit that should go well with many accessories because it really looks good. However, always think carefully as to whether you actually really need something before you buy it. We buy so many things nowadays that we don't really need.

Advantages: 2.5" LCD screen, 5FPS Disadvantages: only 8 megapixels
Another typical camera by Canon. The 30D comes as an upgrade from the very successful 20D. Owning this DSLR I can only say that you can feel the quality. As well as being ergonomic the button layout is perfect. On other moddles some buttons are to small the press especially with gloves on. Picture quality is excellent colours are replicated well from natural skin tones to the vivid colours of the camera. A chose this camera as my first DSLR as it ... ...shooting at this speed requires a high shutter speed. Well you were right to get 5fps you will have to be shooting at 1/4000 sec although 4fps is a more realistic speed for average shooting. This still seems fast enough and produces sharp images especially when using AI and Servo modes with moving subjects. Overall this is an excellent camera and is very user freindly due to design and the large 2.5" lcd screen. If you are considering buying this ...

Advantages: It's big and brazen, It's sturdy. It's Canon Disadvantages: It's 3.1 Megapixels. Uses lots of battery, Not so hot when icreasing ISO
Bought this camera a few years ago. First ever Digital SLR. Only 3.5 mega pixels but my goodness what a camera.
Since I started an Open University Course on creating better images I have really become a bit of an anorak in how the camera works. It has great appeal (looks wise) it looks even more impressive with the extra battery grip I got. Pictures above ISO 100 reduce the quality drastically when seen at A4, iI found. especially if in poor light.
... ...superb.
Need lots of batteries though. I have a 2 battery pack as well as a number fo back ups. I have gone from a passing interest to amateur to what I would now call a very enthusiastic amateur. Been published once in a news story for a local paper, would love to now build on this and this is camera is a much cheaper way to do it. ...

Advantages: no more film processing, very low running costs, ease of use, instant check of image on lcd screen Disadvantages: Needs Canon flash as no independant brand compatible, No spot meter, needs battery grip, for better handleing
I've only had my D30 for a month, despite buying it 2nd hand i cant fault it yet, images are sharp and well exposed once you get the hang of the histograp function and exposure compensation. it might only be 3.1 mega pixels but if your using quality optics it wont mater end of the day this has a better resolution than the Nikon D1 pro camera .
If you have small hands then you can handle this camera with ease, if not then like me you will need to ... ...which as well as giving you more camera to grip and the added battery capacity it also makes the camera look more profesional.
For printing I would keep the enlargements to 8"x10" which for most people is more than adequate althought i understand its capable of producing 11"x14" prints.
All in all a camera very well suited to a beginger to digital photography, if you already use Eos camera then you will be able to use this as soon as you load a ...

Advantages: Great quality for the price and user friendly buttons Disadvantages: 8 megapixels (if you value that)
I've been a traditional film photographer for years and the EOS 30D was the first digital slr we purchased a few months ago. My husband and I are so happy with this camera and love that we can take it on vacation for candids, then turn around and utilize it more professionally for portraits. There is such a range of creative options that allows this camera to be very functional for a variety of situations from backyard bbq's to more professional ... ...with this buy and definitely recommend this for people who desire a camera that can be functional in casual situations and for families as well as professionally....
The one down side for many is the 8 megapixels but I haven't had any problems with clarity for prints I have printed because the largest I print is 16x20 and they turn out beautiful! ...

...This is possibly the best lens I own for my CanonEOS30D DSLR. (And for £65 what a bargain!)
This is an incredibly light lens, and as I understand it, it is made entirely from plastic. It might feel a little too light, but believe me, it's a well constructed lens which yields fabulous results. It's also very cheap in comparison to other prime lenses, and I would consider it much better value for money than the 50mm f/1.4
As a prime lens, 50mm fixed, f/1.8 it can be used in relatively low light without a flash since it lets so much light through to the camera... Shorter exposure times means your subject has less time to move. It also has a pretty shallow depth of field, so a perfectly focussed subject can have a wonderfully blurred background.
The tiny box this comes in contains the lens, front and rear caps, and a small leaflet...

...Introduction
###########
When taking pictures at slow shutter speeds I always had the problem of a blurred image caused by me pressing the shutter release on my camera. This seemed like a really good solution as it will not move the camera.
Who is it For?
############
This is for users of SLR camera for the following models:
CanonEOS 5D/30D/60 D/10 D/20 D/1 DS/3/1V/
Kodak DSC520
If you don't see your model listed above, then it will not fit your camera and will not work.
In terms of uses; people can use this who do long exposures - like nighttime photography, and also will be good for portrait photographers where you want to entertain the subject (a baby) and just press the shutter release when you have them smiling!

Advantages: Easy interface, Great Lens with focus and aperture ring, Shutter Speed on top dial Disadvantages: Can't see out of lens without power, can't pause when shooting action
...This is my first SLR camera and I chose Panasonic because my first digital camera I ever owned was a Panasonic FX9.
I'm happy to report that I'm not disappointed and in fact quite delighted with the overall package. With the old school looks and easy to get to features such as shutter speed, aperture and focus, I take pictures alot faster and better than say someone using say the Canon Rebel.
However, thats an unfair comparison since the value of the two cameras is at two different price points. A fairer comparison would be the DMC-L1 with say, the CanonEOS30D. The EOS doesn't have built in Dust Reduction System or a Leica Lens out of the box. However, besides those two things, its hard to figure out what other advantages there are to the Panasonic.
The Canon30D has 8.2 Megapixels, while the DMC-L1 has 7.5 Megapixels. The 30D has...

Manufacturer's product description
Canon's cutting-edge technology has provided you with a high-end digital camera at a friendlier price. Combining Canon's razor-sharp optics and CMOS technology, EOS D30 will get you 3.11 megapixels and great-looking images every time. High resolution and outstanding color reproduction are made possible by a Canon's proprietary large-area CMOS sensor, an RGB color filter, and a newly designed digital imaging processing LSI. The camera also incorporates the same mode settings and dial operations found in existing EOS system cameras. Specific to the digital camera functions have been added to the LCD panel, including recording format and white balance. The 1.8-inch LCD color monitor on the back panel provides viewing and confirming images, as well as screens for 13 types of custom functions and a variety of camera settings including shutter speeds, aperture, and exposure. The menu screen simplifies display settings by using color codes for the imaging system (red), playback system (blue) and set-up system (yellow). EOS D30 has a newly designed image-processing engine and high-capacity buffer memory, enabling it to shoot up to 8 frames in a continuous sequence at approx. 3 frames per second when the Drive mode is set to Continuous. EOS D30 can easily capture highly active photography such as sports or photojournalism, in the same way with the conventional film SLR camera. Making its debut in the EOS series, the retractable E-TTL autoflash provides the best light for the worst conditions. EOS D30 supports USB and NTSC/PAL video out for instant access to your digital images, providing high-speed Plug and Play data transfer. Life is full of surprises. Getting ready to shoot takes just a flick of the finger. So, you'll never miss an opportunity to get the shot of a lifetime. And you'll always be ready for the next shot with the EOS D30's Continuous shooting mode. EOS D30 features compact, yet durable and elegant body. It's easy to use, easy to handle, and easy on the eyes. D30 has beauty and brawn. A dark, sleek exterior fortified by a durable chassis - not to mention the smallest and lightest of its kind. The chassis, a skeleton of the camera, is made of special stainless steel alloy to ensure high rigidity, and the exterior is made of strong, light engineering plastic. This compact, durable camera body defies the common impression that digital SLR cameras have to be large and heavy. D30 can host the enormous repertoire of Canon EF lenses. So, keep adding to your collection, because with the accessories, one size fits all! Canon has made the D30 compatible with a wide range of EOS system series accessories (and has even added some new ones).
This is sophisticated a camera and as such is not really suitable for absolute beginners, but at £700 I can’t imagine many beginners buying it. To get the most out of it, you need to know your f stops from your ISO setting. There are no muppet... more
