Advantages Advantages image quality, ease of use, lightweight, good battery life

Disadvantages Disadvantages opening battery compartment loses images, slow RAW conversion, image magnification at one level only

The Canon EOS D60 has been around for about two years now and was an improvement on an earlier model. I’ve owned it now for about a year and during that time myself and my family have had much usage and enjoyment from the camera. Having owned the camera for some time now I feel I am able to comment on all aspects of the camera and hopefully identify any disadvantages especially having a husband who works with cameras and therefore knows a lot about them. Canon are one of the leading manufacturers of relatively low-cost digital cameras with new models being brought out every year each with a ... more

Advantages Advantages Intuitive digital SLR with great results

Disadvantages Disadvantages Superceded by the Canon EOS 10D

Firstly a caveat. I love this camera. But if you are buying a digital SLR soon don't buy!! That's 'cos Canon have released the EOS 10D which has better specifications and is £500 cheaper! (Canon D60 had a recommended price of £1999, the EOS 10D should come in at £1499) - though you'll probably be able to get it at £1199 by shopping around on the internet) I took a long time researching which digital SLR to buy. Much of my information came from www.dpreview.com which has a fantastically detailed review of the Canon D60 covering every single aspect of the camera. The website has great reviews of ... more

Advantages Advantages high resolution, SLR, full lens range available

    Disadvantages Disadvantages flash exposure, cost

I already own a EOS 5 with some lenses and flashes, but haven't used it since getting my Casio QV3000 digital camera, approximately three years ago. I missed the capabilities of a SLR system, but the quality of images from the Casio, and the convenience of digital output meant that film was dead for me. I waited with anticipation for an affordable Canon SLR, which would have been the D30, however there was no improvement in resolution over the Casio, so I decided to wait for the next generation from Canon which was the D60. I read every review on the D60 and waited about 9 months after the ... more

    Advantages Advantages They work

Disadvantages Disadvantages theres alot better out there for the cash

Having used the D60 for many months, I cannot truly say that its crap, however for the amount of cash, I really recommend looking at different models. It is now discontinued and there is good reason for it. File sizes are more than adequate however auto white balance settings are a bit dodgy and trying to get it to focus in low lighting conditions is a nightmare. The film speed setting is also quite disappointing, even though it goes up to 1000 asa it really shouldnt be pushed further than 400 as the results are diabolical, The D60 is now very cheap but I wouldnt recommend one unless you are ... more

5 Stars Canon EOS 60D is it worth the money? Review with images 31/10/2010
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages The 60D has all the frame rates of the 7D and T2i/550D and manual audio like the 5DmkII.

Disadvantages Disadvantages None at this price really.

Its Here!! The much anticipated replacement for the 50D, sure it’s better than the 550D/T2i…it’s more money. Yes it has a couple of features more than the 550D/t2i and some the 7D does not have, but do you get what you pay for? The New Canon EOS 60D is designed to sit between the EOS 550D and the EOS 7D in the current Canon EOS line up and it does the job nicely. The best thing for me is this articulating screen. It make life so much easier for the film makers and stills takers alike. It is a very nice screen too - taking the wider 3:2 ratio high resolution LCD from the 550D, putting it ahead ... more
