First impressions of the Canon EOS 1000D were great. Looks and features of a top of the range camera, and incredibly easy to use. There are a variety of different settings, ranging from fully auto, to manual mode where your creative side is let free. I am a novice photogtapher, and i find the 1000D incredibly easy to use. Set the camera on full auto and it becomes a point and click camera like and digi cam on the market, except the picture quality is alot better. There is even an option to use the large LCD screen as a preview screen like on digi cams. Personally i dont use the camera in this way, im teaching myself how to use manual modes, which isnt as hard as it seems as the layout of the camera is easy to use, and easy to get used to. Overall, this is a perfect camera for beginners, and amateurs, but still holds its own as a camera ...

The Canon EOS 1000D is an excellent entry level camera. I bought it in September 2008 for £384 with the 18-55mm lens and a £50 cashback from Canon themselves.
The picture quality is excellent with a basic range of settings that are excellent for beginners to learn the ropes of photography. The build quality and reliability of this Canon is very good and i have had no problems or faults with it what so ever. Battery life is also very good and you can easily have a day out without worry of your Canon dying on you.
For the price i feel it has all the functions you need to take excellent photographs and would definately recommend it to friends or family if looking to buy an entry level camera. The instruction booklet that comes included is also very user friendly and something you can learn alot from, especially if you are a beginner like ...

Advantages: Typically good Canon images. Disadvantages: Poor flash and feels a bit flimsy.
Canon along with Nikon have for years been known as the kings of camera`s but with things changing rapidly in the DSLR market Canon had to think fast. All of Canons recent releases have been at the expensive end of the market and they have been rapidly losing ground to the likes of Nikon and the new kids on the block (Sony). The release of the Canon EOS 1000D in June this year (2008)was an attempt to get back in the entry level market and whilst I think it should have the desired effect I am still not convinced they have done enough to tempt people away from the less expensive Sony option.
Many people myself included thought that the new Canon would just be a fresher version of the Canon EOS 400D and the only stand out feature available on this 1000D that the 400 did not offer was a live view, so were Canon trying to pull the wool ...

Canon FAX L1000 offers the most comprehensive fax features possible for large companies and departments. With its Super G3 modem (33.6 Kbps) it gives the fastest analog transmission available - 3 seconds per page. Paper capacity is maximum - expandable up to 1100 sheets - to ensure minimum wasted time refilling, and if paper does run out, a huge memory of 192 pages ensures "never miss a fax" reliability. Multiple convenience fax features - such as 72 one-touch dials, extra report management, Confidential Mailbox Delayed transmission and Batch transmission - make the L1000 the most complete Fax machine available. In addition to numerous standard features, the L1000 can be expanded in many different ways. The ISDN option enables two-line capability - sending and receiving simultaneously - and 64.4 Kbps transmission speed, with the clearest image transmission possible by fax.
