The Canon EOS 1000D is an excellent entry level camera. I bought it in September 2008 for £384 with the 18-55mm lens and a £50 cashback from Canon themselves.
The picture quality is excellent with a basic range of settings that are excellent for beginners to learn the ropes of photography. The build quality and reliability of this Canon is very good and i have had no problems or faults with it what so ever. Battery life is also very good and you can easily have a day out without worry of your Canon dying on you.
For the price i feel it has all the functions you need to take excellent photographs and would definately recommend it to friends or family if looking to buy an entry level camera. The instruction booklet that comes included is also very user friendly and something you can learn alot from, especially if you are a beginner like ...

Advantages: Very easy to use and learn about and not as expenssive as other DSLR Disadvantages: At the moment I honeslty see no disadvantages to this product.
The Canon EOS 1000D is a great camera. In my opinion it takes AWESOME pictures, and is very easy to use. The Canon EOS 1000D takes photography to a great level for those who are wanting to just begin photography or are well seasoned and want another camera to add to their work. Personally I own a Canon EOS 1000D and use it for all of my photography. I love the ease and precision and the great pictures that I am able to capture with my Canon. Also it being a DSLR is another great feature; with this a user can change the lense for even more spectactular pictures. This Camera is great, and would be very useful for anyone. As I said earlier, it's so easy to use that anyone can use it. Some of the modes are similar to your every day point and shoot cameras, and the greatest thing is, it comes with an owners manual in more than one language ...

Advantages: Simple to use Disadvantages: Cant think of any!
First impressions of the Canon EOS 1000D were great. Looks and features of a top of the range camera, and incredibly easy to use. There are a variety of different settings, ranging from fully auto, to manual mode where your creative side is let free. I am a novice photogtapher, and i find the 1000D incredibly easy to use. Set the camera on full auto and it becomes a point and click camera like and digi cam on the market, except the picture quality is alot better. There is even an option to use the large LCD screen as a preview screen like on digi cams. Personally i dont use the camera in this way, im teaching myself how to use manual modes, which isnt as hard as it seems as the layout of the camera is easy to use, and easy to get used to. Overall, this is a perfect camera for beginners, and amateurs, but still holds its own as a camera ...

Canon FAX L1000 offers the most comprehensive fax features possible for large companies and departments. With its Super G3 modem (33.6 Kbps) it gives the fastest analog transmission available - 3 seconds per page. Paper capacity is maximum - expandable up to 1100 sheets - to ensure minimum wasted time refilling, and if paper does run out, a huge memory of 192 pages ensures "never miss a fax" reliability. Multiple convenience fax features - such as 72 one-touch dials, extra report management, Confidential Mailbox Delayed transmission and Batch transmission - make the L1000 the most complete Fax machine available. In addition to numerous standard features, the L1000 can be expanded in many different ways. The ISDN option enables two-line capability - sending and receiving simultaneously - and 64.4 Kbps transmission speed, with the clearest image transmission possible by fax. Printing options include single use with PCL or PostScript kits, plus Network printing options to make use of 16 pages per minute double-sided printing. And memory and paper capacity can be expanded - up to 704 pages memory and 1100 sheets paper capacity. All of this makes the L1000 the most complete Laser Fax yet from Canon.
