Dreadful drive
Review of Iomega Ditto Easy 800 400 MB 800 MB by Skilleter

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Didn't work, mangled tapes

...I bought an IoMega Ditto 250 drive quite a few years ago and it was the bit of computer equipment that I ever bought. It mangled tapes, didn't back up reliable and hardly ever managed to restore anything. I had so many problems that I sent the drive back. IoMega replaced it and gave me free tapes to replace the ones that it damaged. The replacement drive was as bad. So was the second replacement drive. And the third. And the fourth. In the end to give IoMega credit, they refunded my original price and gave me a fifth drive! I have not installed it. Given my experience with this, and other tape drives I wouldn't recommend a QIC tape drive to anyone!... Read review

After much deliberation I decided on the S1XP - the top model of the series (there are three models - S1XP, S1VP (availble only from Sony) and the S1HP (base model). The main reason for the purchase was to have soemthing lightweight but functional for travel. A lot of laptops seem to come with endless... Read review
