So glad to be back to a Canon!

Advantages: Small, tough, simple and fast to use
Disadvantages: A little expensive

First of all let me explain that I'm actually reviewing the Canon IXY 210 IS. It's the exact same camera, but the name and model number are for the Japanese market. Second of all let me mention that I only take photos to remember places I've been or nights out, I know nothing about photography and so will not attempt to explain anything technical. This review will compare with other cameras I have used, my experience is somewhat limited. So, a little history. I first owned a little 2MP Sony camera, it was tiny and nice to look at and the photos weren't too bad. Later I upgraded to a lovely little Canon IXUS I, I got on with it very well and produced what I considered to be some decent photos. Then somebody stole by beloved little IXUS and I was forced to buy a new camera. What came next was some Konica Minolta dimage thing that I ...

Review of Canon Digital IXUS 100 IS Digital Camera

Canon fires up a cracking camera

Advantages: The face recognition and fantastic images
Disadvantages: The motion detection not always accurate

This review is for the Canon PowerShot A480 digital camera. Setup The setup for this camera is fairly basic and you obviously begin by just putting some batteries into the battery holder. You are provided with disc to use for this camera, this is for when you want to load up the pictures to the computer, but I have found that this is not necessary and if you lose the disc it will be no problem at all. Once the batteries are loaded and a memory card is inserted you are ready to get taking some pictures. Design The design for this camera can be a bit poor for some people purely because it feels like a cheap 99p camera. You have at the front facing you this huge lens in this shiny silver colour which just dominates the face of the camera complete. On the back of the camera you have got this nice LCD screen which ...

Review of Canon PowerShot A480

Canon Ixus 100 IS - Small and oh so stylish

Advantages: Small, Stylish, Auto modes work well, Image Stabilization
Disadvantages: HD Video capability is disappointing

The Canon Ixus 100 IS is the successor to the Ixus 85 IS model, now with 12.1 megapixels instead of the old 10. The 2.5" screen is retained, as is the optical viewfinder and the 3x zoom capability, but the Ixus 100 IS is packed with new features. Video can now be recorded in HD (720p format) and an HDMI port has been added for viewing your pics on the latest HD televisions. The 100 IS also gets a new DIGIC 4 processor, Autofocus Tracking and Auto Scene Detection! The dimensions have changed in proportion, being a whole millimetre wider than its predecessor, another millimetre taller, but 2mm slimmer with an incredible depth of only 18.4mm. The weight stays about the same at less than 130g and, being similar in size to an iPod, it is very easy to carry around in your shirt pocket/handbag. Indeed, the similarity with the iPod doesn ...
