In all the time I have had it, it has been so 'idiot proof' that I have been unable (despite valiant attempts!!) to take a 'bad' photo...
It is sooo small that it fits neatly into handbags, pockets etc, and yet has an amazing array of features....
I love the fact that the flash takes only a few seconds to load up, so you ... ...love the zoom lens feature that is very easy to manipulate and use...
I also like the warning lights that warn you if you are taking the photo wrongly....
Again, before I had this camera, I had quite a few run-ins with cameras, ie, I would spoil rolls of film trying to load them it, and also load used film in and take an entire roll of 'double' photos..
Then when I got the IXUS, this was a thing of the past.....No more fiddling ... more

It is sooo small that it fits neatly into handbags, pockets etc, and yet has an amazing array of features.... I love the fact that the flash takes only a few seconds to load up, so you can take several photos in quick succession... I also love the zoom lens feature that is very easy to manipulate and use... Again, before I had this camera, I had quite a few run-ins with cameras, ie, I would spoil rolls of film trying to load them it, and also load used film in and take an entire roll of 'double' photos.. Then when I got the IXUS, this was a thing of the past.....No more fiddling with film- you just drop in right in.And all used film has a clear marking as do the undeveloped rolls..... In fact the only disadvantage I have found is that when I change the format of the photo to 'panoramic' it is easy to forget to change it back, which I have done on a couple occasions....However, this is very obviously my falut and not the camera, but a clearer indication might no go amiss!!
Advantages: Compact, light, easy to use, looks good Disadvantages: Cost of APS film and developing, quality of photos
This camera was bought for me as an xmas present and its great. Number one it is so small and so light I can literally take it anywhere so I don't miss taking photos at any parties or anything. Mine is blue and silver so it looks kind of unusual and gets a lot of attention and probably also looks more expensive than the £40-50 paid for it. As far as cost goes it also comes with a case and film when you buy it! The functionality is also a definite ... ...film, this camera is easy to load, just drop the film in and it is wound on for you, and easy to use. The photo-selector is clear and functional and switcing the flash on or off is easy too. And on top of this you also get red-eye reducer and a self-timer, both of which come in very handy! ...

Advantages: Best APS compact on market Disadvantages: It didn't work
I brought the Ixus for my wife as an xmas present last year and she was taken with it straight away. "It's gorgeous" she said and I went on to describe all the features to her. I had to agree it is very good looking and had all the latest APS features on the market. We spent a very happy Xmas snapping away and even decided to use the Ixus in London on Millenium Eve. We took lots of great pictures of us all in London with the date and time stamped ... ...a joy to carry as it was so small and the different picture formats meant that we could take panoramic shots of the Thames. The love affair ended on January the 5th however upon receipt of the five rolls of film that we had taken. EVERY picture was out of focus. We never found out what the problem was as the retailer offered us an exchange which we declined but accept nan offer of a discount on an IXUS 2 which has functioned well since. You can see ...

Advantages: Small, good quality pictures Disadvantages: Zoom is a bit short
I have used my Canon Ixus for about 2 and a half years now (a very nice birthday present). It uses the newer APS film format which is much easier to load and handle than 35 mm, just drop cartridge in and close the door. You can select from 3 different picture formats (HDTV, Panorama and Standard). This camera has a very useful zoom lens and came with a nice quality leather case. It's small enough to go in a pocket without too much trouble. As you ... ...excellent. The built in flash cope with most situations and is automatic, though it can be overidden. There are a number of features such as timers, multiple exposure, etc that some users may find are good. I tend to use it just for standard pictures. It can print the date on the front and/or the back of the prints too. It is a solid, well made camera. ...

...information recording, etc) Canon did two similar 'cheap' IXUS models - this one - the AF, and another the FF. The difference being that the FF had fixed focus and the AF auto focus (obviously enough). The auto focus is of the infra-red type so can be fooled by shooting through glass etc... but generally performs well and is worth having over the FF version. Exposure is good enough and the flash is small but good enough for shots at parties etc... ... ...my other camera is an Canon EOS SLR) its very small, dark and it always takes a moment or two to get your eye just right at it. On the plus side changing the APS format does properly mask the viewfinder unlike some APS compacts which rely on dotted outlines to mark out the different formats. All in all the viewfinder is acceptable for a camera so small. The camera includes a tripod socket, self timer, settings for flash, no-flash, red eye flash or ...
