A Semi-retired businessman, enjoying life. Back problems plague me (3 major back ops), hence my semi retired state. To stop spinal deterioration I regularly cycle & swim but having to pace myself daily unfortunately I cannot do a normal 9 to 5 job.

I have had four previous camcorders but this is my first digital camcorder and - wow - the quality of the still photos I have taken on my new MV570i are just fantastic and stand out like 3D when displayed on my TV or PC monitor.
The installation of the software supplied was a (no effort) dream with everything being found by my windows XP system.
I purchased an extra battery to give me an extra 6 hours of operation but have so far not had to use it as the battery supplied gives between 45 - 125 mins and can be charged at any point without the need to discharge the battery first.
Although it is very easy to use as a point and shoot camcorder/camera, the only thing I feel is a slight disadvantage is the complex operation to include any of the numerous facilities such as changing from one type of fader effect to another and if speed of scene capture is of the essence such as at a sports day event then it would be almost impossible to use more than one effect as you would have no time to change to another.
A further problem is shooting in bright sunlight where the viewfinder's and screen's views are not always clearly visible and this means that sometimes you are almost shooting blind.
The above does not detract from the overall final picture quality and features of the camcorder which are really good. It is going to take me some time to get used to all the features but I quickly got the hang of using the basics - zoom/record/photo/PC connection and uploads/etc;
A little advice on buying :-
Please remember that as with most digital camcorders, if you want to capture your video footage onto your PC you will need to purchase a separate video capture card and cable (spec IEEE1394 for both) fortunately these are relatively low cost items that are simply pushed into a spare PC internal slot and can be bought most computer shops and online.
When buying your camcorder I would advise you to look on E-Bay - I bought mine for £230 plus postage via e-bay from the USA when the same camcordewr here in the UK retailed at £500 so there are great savings to be made and it arrived within 3 days from the States.
