Super-compact and fully featured, the MVX350i features a large 2.5" LCD screen that can be backlit for improved visibility in bright outdoor conditions. If time is of the essence, hit the 'Easy' button for instant 'point-and-shoot' footage. In low light conditions, a Night Mode button switches you into this mode immediately without having to access the menu. Image resolution is consistently sharp thanks to a 1.33 Megapixel CCD. Canon's unique DiGIC DV processor makes colors appear satisfyingly natural with no loss in intensity. Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) suppresses image shake, keeping your footage steady and calm. Precision optics complement the advanced electronics to ensure consistently crisp and clear results. The 20x optical zoom lens has an aspheric element for sharp, high contrast footage. Super Spectra coatings applied to each lens element cut out internal reflections that cause ghosting and flare which can otherwise ruin or wash out your image. The MVX350i has multiple modes and effects. Its Super Night mode with Mini Video Light allows full color shooting even in pitch-black conditions. The widescreeen 16: 9 mode can be used in high-resolution or with EIS for the sharpest results in difficult filming conditions. With the MVX350i, you get a capable digital camera built in. Take stills in the middle of recording video and your footage remains unaffected. A mechanical shutter eliminates the blur found in lesser quality camcorders. Set it to stills mode and you can shoot 3 or 5 frames per second. JPEGs and Motion JPEGs are stored direct onto the SD or MMC memory card, for easy upload to PC via USB. Printing your stills couldn't be simpler. You don't even need a PC; just connect to any PictBridge compliant printer, select the image and within moments have a quality print in your hands.

Advantages: Great outside video footage. Disadvantages: Terrible lower light (indoors) video quality. Tape mechanism noise clearly audible on recording.
...I bought the CanonMV750i camcorder as a replacement for a broken 4 year old Panasonic miniDV and was very disappointed, so much so that I returned it and got a refund. Outside footage is great, especially the colour reproduction, when compared to my old camcorder. But indoors in lower light conditions (e.g. a living room, during daytime with the lights on) this camcorder really struggles. Video is very grainy, colours are washed out, autofocus struggles when panning. If you are purchasing a camcorder for family use then you will be using it indoors quite a lot (birthdays, first steps etc) and this camcorder will not give you the quality you want. I would suggest trying the Canon MVX250i or MVX25i....

Advantages: easy to use Disadvantages: not as many extras as the mv3700i
...the canonmv700 isn't just easy to use, but practical and compact as well! cheap, reliable and interesting, it's no wonder everyone chooses a canon camcorder!
It's a great colour, it's got everything you need to have on a camcorder and it's totally amazing, if your going for a camcorder, go for the canonMV300!
with it's dv out, night mode, digital still, so you can take ordinary photo's, and all the digital effects, it's so compact that you cannot believe the extras on it!
I saved up for a camcorder for a long time, and i ended up getting one of the best ever! the instruction manual is easy to read and i was set up after about 5 minutes of getting it!
It comes with the dv out plug, a battery pack, an extra battery, a charger and lot of other things, in which i don't know the technical terms for.
So all in all, this camcorder...
