The battery is a long life battery - personal experience: 45 minutes of continuous filming with LCD full on only consumed slightly less than half of the ... ...comes with a built-in lens cover - no dangling plastic caps to mess about.
It also comes with a shoulder/neck strap so that you don't need to fetch it from the bag and it is small enough to fit into coat pockets.
Big enough LCD screen and rotatble for filming at various height and angles.
Joystick button for menu navigation (playback functions as well) is a 'joy' to use.

Can take pictures (1.3MPix only) by pressing a separate button with SD card slot for photo storage. Good for quick snaps when your camera is somewhere else or the moment is too quick to disappear while your other camera is firing up.
20X optical Zoom - better than other camcorders of the same price range.
Lots of built-in filming modes for various occassions e.g. fireworks DV-in as well.
Wide attachment for wide-angle filming.
Wireless remote control - you can film yourself in action with the remote while the camcorder is some distance away, brilliant!!!
Not so good points:
The handstrap even at minimum length is a bit too loose for my not so big hand.
The built-in lens cover is operated manually. You have to open it for filming and then shut it for storage otherwise you may scratch you lens in your pocket.
The viewfinder is colour but now fixed - better to use the LCD screen. Can not do 0 lux filming.

This camcorder can perform as it should be at sub-zero temperature (-3 degree C in Lapland) with continous shooting for 5-10 minutes (with the LCD screen opened exposing the battery to outside temperature). No obvious battery drain was seen. No slowing down during filming. Still picture function as normal too.
