Advantages: Good unit with lots of features when it works properly Disadvantages: Easily broken! Whats the point? Its like a washing mashine with a rotary line stuck out the top!

Like many people I have always believed Canon to be an excellent make of Printers and Camera's and all other equipment in between like this. They just seem to have a great reputation. So when I came across this printer on the internet I decided it would be perfect for me. So many different functions, copier, scanner, fax machine, USB port on it so I can just plug my camera in without needed to use the computer. The printer looked perfect, so I went out and bought it. For the first few months of use it was perfect, good quality pictures, quick printing, high quality scanner. It was only after a few months of use that I started to notice the down points.
Firstly, Ink consumption, in the same way huge 4x4 vehicles drink lots of fuel, this printer drinks ink for fun, when printing good quality pictures you will not get many pictures per ink cartridge.
Secondly, like the first Canon printer I had the MP160, the paper feeder stopped working, and the same happened with the MX300, All the internet advice I could find was turn the printer upside down and hit it, didn't really work, so I have now got a MX300 minues the printer, and seeing as I can print, I cannot recieve faxes.
The MX300 is quite good as long as you do not get so unlucky that your paper feeder breaks. Otherwise its a nice printer. But I just cant help thinking to myself, what the hell is it for? Fax? no home user would want one, they are more likely to send e-mails with attachments, its cheaper for a start.
No business user would only be splashing out £80 on a budget home combi system and if they are they are not investing they money wisely. It does not have a massive count of prints per cartridge so its not economical.
If you are a business user and you are looking for a printer, consider a laser printer, they are much cheaper to run, if you are still using fax's I would suggest upgrading to e-mail or buy yourself a dirt cheap fax machine and use it seperately.
In summary then, if it works properly its quite a nifty idea. But it just seems like they dropped the blue prints of several units on the floor, mixed them up and made this, something that will make you think how useful and how you should never live without such technology, and then realise all of a sudden, that the money could have been spent on a better printer.
