After buying my canon ip4200 to replace an old printer I did not expect much from a printer costing so little, but I was pleasantly surprised. my first print job was a music cd that I had recorded for my wife, this was my first printable cd so i had to rely heavily on the bundled software. again using the easy print tool box this was very easy to do and the results were amazing. This software allows you to use any photo or picture, you can also type in any text onto the disc. using the supplied cd holder. For general document printing this printer is unbeatable, with 2 paper feeders, one single sheet feeder on the top of the printer and one cartridge sheet feeder underneath. I always keep the cartridge full of plain printer paper for printing my documents and use the top feeder for any specialist papers as I require. If you need to print booklets or any double sided documents this printer does print automatic double sided sheets from either sheet feeder with a simple tick box in the options box. the options are easy to set up using a tabbed window to set all the printing preferences you need including the handy ink saving options and print quality options. For photo printing the ip4200 is very capable with a resolution of up to 9600 X 2400 dpi using a fine print head with a 1pixel droplet,all your photo's and pictures will be very high quality. I have printed photo's of all sizes up to A4 on different quality settings and found that you can get professional quality photo's at the highest quality settings and adequate photo's suitable for printing on documents at the quick print settings. borderless photo's are printed with ease. If you do need any help with the printer there is a very good, easy to use on screen manual included with the software. The 5 ink cartridges are easy to replace and economical at prices ranging from around £8.00 to £11.00 per cartridge, you can replace single cartridges as they run out, so if you are on a tight budget buying one at a time will appeal. Opening the printer's front reveals the ink cartridge holder, all the ink cartridges are lit up when they are full. If any cartridge is empty or faulty that cartridge will flash making it easy to see which one wants changing. The sockets are clearly marked so you cannot put the cartridge in the wrong place and they are easy to take out and replace. If any coluor runs out while printing you will get a clear message on your pc screen telling you which colour needs replacing. All the inks are supplied with your new printer.
