Myself and my husband are both keen photographers and while it is important to have a quality SLR to take decent pictures, it’s equally as important to have something quality to print them on. We used to order prints online but this was getting quite costly given the amount we were printing, and so we decided to get a printer that would allow us to get photo lab quality pictures but in the comfort of our own home. This is where the iP4950 comes in, with its sleek gloss black finish.

The photo printer is a high performance one and prints quickly but with a quality that you are more than satisfied with. It prints a 6 x 4 photo in around 45 seconds. It prints with FINE print head technology which gives grain free images and up to 9600dpi print resolution. We have used photo printers in the past and it has been so bad with using ink up quickly which is why we started doing them online, however the iP4950 is really good with ink and as each of the 5 ink colours are separate ink tanks it means you only have to replace the one that has run out and not the whole lot. This is obviously good for reducing waste and cost, and getting the most out of the inks.

Some photo printers are quite bulky in size, however this particular model is compact and stylish and so slips away into small workspaces or can even be put away in a cupboard as it is so easy to set up and get going each time. There are also handy little eco features which shows you the CO2 output which is something I haven’t come across before, and certainly a first for me with photo printers. The auto power off button is handy if you have forgotten to turn the machine off or haven’t used it for a while, it will automatically power down.

The paper tray holds approximately 150 sheets at a time, and you also have the option to print double sided.

If you want a photo printer that will provide you with sharp photos with vibrant colours and quickly, then this is the printer for you. At around £70 you can pick this up from several retailers online. We paid £65 at the time but it had money off as I think it had just been released.
