Full review
I've had beautiful gloss prints from this excellent printer - miraculous at the price. What a let down, then, that it totally outclasses the scanner. I ran direct comparisons, at 300dpi, with an old Epson 1250 scanner - there was, it turned out, very little comparison. Simply put, the Epson produced smooth, sharp, colour accurate results, the Canon did not. Half-toning was the major, and quite visible, fault. You may wonder why I saw fit to compare it with the Epson. The reason is that Canon's printer deserves such a quality companion; and my advice is, buy a printer of this standard - Canon if you like - and don't buy a scanner until you can afford a one of matching quality.
