With one machine, you can print beautiful, long-lasting photos and laser-quality text. Copy important documents with results that are more faithful to your originals. And scan... more
Just think for a second and ask yourself a question. How would it be to have a scanner, printer and photocopy machine in one device? I had like this about year ago and it is not comfortable. You occupy only USB ports, have more cables behind and less room for anything on a desk. Cannon came across with Pixma mp460. This quite medium sizes device is brilliant and quality breath taking. Printed a number of pictures with it on an Ilford glossy photo paper and could not believe that they look so great. Printed previously some pictures from Snappy Snaps and there was absolutely no difference.
First what I can truly tell is that all information's I give you come from my experience only. I own this device so my review is going to be as close to reality as only possible. I have got it 9 months already. Let's start.
Display
Very useful in this all in one device is 1,9" LCD monitor. It helps a lot when trying to print some pictures from memory card. I found it much easier to print images directly from memory card than PC. Display gives fair enough quality as it is not for watching pictures it is mostly for a preview and selection. Navigation buttons are very easy to use and helpful. When want to select your picture, choose right options or settings very helpful are printed on and next to them symbols. You can lift monitor up to 75 degrees. Everything in this all in one is to make it more comfortable.
Scanner/copier
It Scans documents with resolution of 1200 x 2400 dpi, which should be good enough for all users or even those with higher requirements. All pictures, small notebooks or even small items look very good. All scans I did so far came with extremely good quality. Scanning time depend from a resolution you will choose or a type of stuff. Usually it does not take longer than number of second with already heated lamp. To heat it is about 10-20 seconds. Coping maximal speed is: Up to 22 pages per minute (mono) / up to 17 pages per minute (colour)
Quality
that's the most important and same time the strongest point of this device. When print picture on a good quality picture it doesn't leave any spot of ink or marks on a paper. It is not possible to see that this picture comes from a normal all in one printer. Print out does look like from professional printer or some photo studio. Speed is good enough to not to fall asleep. Straight After printing photo is ready to be touched framed or whatever. Ink used dries very fast. Printer has a night mode. It is a very useful and interesting option allowing you to slow down printer so does not create too much noise. In addition you can choose printer to use this mode all the time, or between specific hours only. It does work. Printer when on night mode is much quieter.
Canon has a number of standard, automatic cleaning procedures: - standard cleaning eliminating unwanted smudges and lines in the print result - Deep cleaning unclogging nozzles that can not be cleaned by regular cleaning - Bottom plate cleaning which prevents paper smudges during printing - Roller cleaning gives smoother paper feeding
Ink (Canon FINE (Full-lithography inkjet Nozzle Engineering) - 4-ink)
Inks does what they should and offer realistic and really good quality print outs. My one lasts for 8 months already and still did not have to replace them. Fact is that I' am not a printing maniac. I use them only when I need them. It is about 3-5 times a week. The cost of new ink varies from capacity. There are different options available on a market. That is good as you can suit size to your budget or if printing a lot buy bigger ink. Black costs about £11 and colour £16. For me it is not expensive. Quality costs.
Software
Software is Very easy to use. Whole package does include the most important software and drivers needed to use this device. There is a photo studio, pictures/movie browser and other sub programs to print copy and scan. Cannon Pixma is also to date in terms of features. Digital camera enthusiasts are welcome to use a PictBridge port, a full complement of memory slots and optional Bluetooth facilities.
Conclusion
Altogether it is a good value for money. It does everything it should with exceptional quality and speed. Pixma can be connected to computer but it is not necessary. Even when your PC broke down you can still print from memory cards/sticks. Paper feed has a standard capacity and you can store about 100 pages in it. Whole device is a little big. There are smaller devices available on a market but not for such a price. I would say that it has medium size. What is most important and really counts: it is much smaller than all devices together which job this all in one printer is doing.
Without hesitation I can recommend it to everyone.
Please rate my review and leave a comment possibly I hope, my review helped you. Thank you
Advantages: cheap Disadvantages: poor photo prints
...shop, why, because of the banding, lack of colour depth and a sqeek on the slide rail when the cartridges are going across. So not really impressed with this one. I would stay clear and pay more for a good printer. Canon has failed on this one I think. ...

I bought this all-in-one in Sep 08 after reading about it. From opening the box to getting prints and copies out of it was the easiest I've ever experienced - and I've been 'into' PC's for 25 years odd.
The set-up CD was a pleasure to follow its on-screen instructions with NOT ONE GLITCH, which in my experience is almost unheard of.
The one-touch controls say what they do, and the little screen menu on the printer is just fine. I am very happy with the whole item.

Advantages: Simple to use easy to install and set up Disadvantages: With Ubuntu Linux it is complecated to install and set up
I have recently purchased a Cannon Pixma MP460 and found it to be very easy to install, set up and use.
This is a three in one machine with printer, photo copier and scanner
It is ideal for everyone's needs. Really is excellent value for money
The little digital display on the front is easy to read, clearly marked as well as very practical
At the moment I am using the three in one with windows vista and found absolutely no problems what so ever ... ...Ubuntu Linux but although he has eventually got the MP460 up and running it was quite a complicated task which took quite a while to resolve. So using with your everyday windows programs I would highly recommend this to be the one to go for but Ubuntu Linux users it maybe better to leave well alone. ...

Advantages: All in one printer easy to use Disadvantages: price of original buy but outways on reliability
This printer has been a wonderful buy! It can do everything you would want in a home ( I believe that it was even recommended in the independant newspaper recently ) plus replacement ink is reasonably priced depending on where you buy it (personally I buy either from ebay shops or Tesco-where the prices range from about £2 a cartridge)
The results are by far the best quality I have had from an all-in-one printer and the problems that generally come ... ...to kids dropping things in the vacinity!), paper runs through smoothly unlike our old lexmark that kept jamming for no reason.
Picture quality printing is very good I regularly print my own photos via the card slot or through the computer to make calendars or cards and the paper choice is important but generally the quality has been great ...
