This rating is used to state the storage capability of a battery, e.g. a 1000mAh battery would be capable of delivering 1000mA of current consistently for one hour whereas a 2000mAh battery would deliver the same 1000mA of current for two hours. Li-on rechargeable digital batteries can deliver 40% more capacity than comparably sized NiCd batteries and weigh less than the nickel-based batteries and develop no memory effect. U-Bop battery cells are environmentally friendly, feature a very high energy density and have no memory effect. All batteries are produced to the highest quality standards. Advantages: Sturdy, compact Disadvantages: like many others uploading does hog computer time
For about 6 months now I have been using the A50. It stands out particularly for it's studiness and robustness. It may not be the most Ultra Cult, state of the are bit of kit available at the minute but at around £350 it is both affordable and good value for money. If you are looking for a functional but not overly-buttoned and confusing camera then this is I suggest a good contender. On the down side there are plenty of other models with better ...

Advantages: Balance of idiot & professional mode Disadvantages: rocker switch instead of D pad
A first foray into digital photography, I bought this initially for use at work, but was so impressed I also bought one for personal use.
My husband is a semi-professional photographer and the quality/features of the A50 were sufficient to satisfy his needs.
At the same time, I am not remotely interested in photography but want a high quality result with the mimimum of fuss. For this reason the point and shoot facility (idiot mode) was perfect.

Manufacturer's product description
PowerShot A50 is a logical extension of Canon earlier A5 and A5 Zoom models, upgrading the sensor resolution to a full 1.3 megapixels, while maintaining the same compact, "go anywhere" all-aluminum body. The enhancements go far beyond just an increase in sensor resolution though, as the images are in every respect superior to the earlier A5 models, and indeed are very much at the top of the 1.3 megapixel class: colors are bright, saturated, and accurate, shadow detail is excellent, and the exposure range is unusually broad. Featuring Stitch Assist Mode, PowerShot A50 allows to link successive frames together to create a single breathtaking panorama picture. Couple this with a compact body reflecting the design of Canon's tremendously popular ELPH film cameras, and an aggressive price point, and you have a sure winner.
