tradition of versatility and user-friendliness of this renowned series. Still as friendly and flexible as before, the PowerShot A550 offers photographers of all levels a CCD sensor of more than 7 million pixels and a 4x optical zoom. In this way, you can easily take detailed photos that can be printed in A3 format without losing any of their quality. The PowerShot A550 also comes with a 2" screen so that you can view your shots quickly and comfortably in 16:9 mode, which is ideal for viewing on your widescreen television or for panoramic printing from a photo printer. The sensitivity can be adjusted to 800 ISO, enabling you to take great shots indoors and outdoors, and with or without flash in poor lighting conditions. This sensitivity also has the advantage of increasing the shutter speed which eliminates the risk of blur on moving subjects in normal lighting conditions. Added to its numerous focusing modes is an ergonomic handling thanks to a comfortable handle unique to the A series, as well as a compatibility with High Capacity SD memory cards (SDHC Cards). With the PowerShot A550, you can have a powerful and high performance appliance to offer all the family an attractive digital photo experience!
and buttons are intuitively positioned for fast, fingertip access. A selectable Grid Line Display on the LCDs helps with shot composition, while the 2.0? screen size makes it easy for family members to view photos together without connecting to a PC. A wide range of shooting modes cover most family and social situations, allowing users to shoot without having to worry about camera settings. The PowerShot A550 simplifies shooting even further by bringing the most commonly used Special Scene modes ? such as Night Snapshot and Kids & Pets ? out of the menu system and onto the camera?s Shooting Mode dial. My Colors allows users to apply photo effects direct from the camera while shooting, with options including Sepia and Black & White. The PowerShot A550 features a Movie mode for VGA quality clips with audio of up to 60 minutes in length or 1GB file size (whichever is reached first). Movies and photos can be viewed on a TV via the AV out connection.
Advantages: Small, portable, easy to use, good image quality Disadvantages: Lens cover flimsy
This is one of Canon's budget range of digital cameras, one of the better ones, 7.1 mega pixels and 4x optical zoom all for around £150-£200 depending where you go. The photo quality is good for the price, it is a basic outfit, there arent many extra functions and its far from top of the range, but it is a nice family camera and definatley does the job.
It is a really good size, chunky enough that you can always find it and it is easy to hold steady, ... ...coat pocket; it wouldn't fit in your jeans. The lcd display on the small side, but I think it does the job, any bigger and they tend to use a lot of battery and it does have the added bonus of a view finder which is always useful in dim light. The only problems I have found with the general 'construction' of the camera are firstly that if you hold the button down to take a photograph in slightly the wrong way it can activate the zoom and secondly, ...
