I've had a Canon A5 for nearly 2 years now. I wanted a smaller camera as I found i was nolonger carry my SLR with me an chose a Digital Camera because of ease of use with the Web. Although the A5 is not a megapixel by current standards (0.8MP) it still produces great pictures which are more than adiquate for every day/web use. If you main purpose however is printing you might be better with a higher spec camera. The Canon is well built being mostly ... ...camera (a lot of modern cameras esp digital ones seem to feel like a computer with a lense stuck on as an afterthought). I'd advise anyone who bought one to invest in a Compact Flash reader (like a floppy drive) for about £40 as transfering the pictures from the camera to your PC via the serial cable is very slow. They're hard to find new now but a 2nd hand one

Recently I bought the Canon PowerShot A50, one of the smallest megapixel zoom lens cameras on the market. The all glass f/2.6-4.0 lens is supposed to ensure the high quality of the pictures.
The 28-70mm retractable power zoom lens allows excellent zooming.
The pictures are good and clear, there is almost no difference to real photos. The picture size can be downsized from .bmp to .jpg (around 50 KB). The 8MB storage chip holds 37 pictures with ... ...only real disadvantage the Canon A5 Power shot shares with most the other digital cameras is the time the camera needs between two shots. Snap shots are not possible
The camera is very handy, light and comes with an 8MB storage chip, which can be substituted by any other Canon storage chip. (16MB are around £40)
The computer programs that are included in the package are easy to install and use.
