unbelievable camera lets you experience high-performance digital photography simply and with great results!Canon has packed all its latest digital technology into the PowerShot G9: the 12 million pixel sensor, 6 x optical zoom and a DIGIC III processor let you take large format photos with finite details and flawless colour rendering. It also features optical image stabilising technology to compensate for camera shake and eliminate all blurriness caused by movement. Meanwhile, its 1600 ISO sensitivity means youll get clear images and deep colours even in low-light conditions. The entire G series from Canon is modelled after old-fashioned cameras to provide comfort and easy handling, and the PowerShot G9 is no exception. It features a classic rapid selection controller and a special control for ISO sensitivity so you can adjust your cameras settings to your liking. Plus, the LCD screen is now larger for enhanced viewing comfort as you shoot. With performances like these, the PowerShot G9 has just what you need to take fantastic digital photos!

Advantages: RAW, large screen, picture quality, ease of use Disadvantages: Doesn't make the toast
...a number of top range Canon digital SLR's with my colleagues for this purpose. When I'm not working professionally, I generally keep a compact camera with me for those must have grab shots.
There is an apparent obsession with how many megapixels a camera has which is now largely irrelevant with recently manufactured cameras. Few people now print off their work, but for those who do, the resolution of almost all new compact digitals (provided that ... ...The latest addition to the Canon compcat G series now has RAW. RAW captures the image without allowing the camera's computer to process and decide on light temperatures etc. It creates the opportunity to make huge changes to the post prodcution image and is no longer the preserve of professional photographers. Still - you might just want to point and shoot - then set it to fully automatic and you wont even have to decide when to use a flash or not ...

This replaced an old Nikon Coolpix and was a quantum leap in both quality of build and features. The G9 has a solid feel about it and felt comfortable in the hand. The 3" LCD screen was remarkable in the quality of the display and made taking pictures a lot easier than most other compact cameras. I use the viewfinder more from habit and found it was clear (maybe a touch small). The controls were close at hand and easy to use. The time lag between ... ...was very small. The time lag can be critical if you want to capture a moving or changing view. The menu offers a large number of shooting modes which I now use to the full and steer clear of the Auto setting.
I resisted using the RAW mode and just dropped the pictures into my Apple "Aperture" software without the need to fire up Photoshop.
I have now had the camera for 5 weeks and taken just over 1600 pictures ( 1 Wedding and a Holiday!!) and I ...

Advantages: very well equipped Disadvantages: maybe old fashin look
Canon PowerShot G9 has got a very compact design with the retro style and therefore allows you to take it always with you. Though
it is equipped with the technology for the most demanding users. PowerShot has got not only quality construction but intuitive
controlling as well. Big 3" PureColor LCD II display with resolution 230 000 pixels with wide view angle makes taking pictures much more easier.
Anti-reflexive surface helps when it is sunny ... ...Great optics performance is from Canon object-lens with 6x optical zoom with luminosity F2,8 – F4,8 and focal distance f = 35 – 210 mm. Optics
stabilizer with function ISO shift decreases the possibility of blured pictures. Special layer of the object-lens SR developed by the
Canon company dramatically decreases reflexes and shadows. 1/1.17" CCD sensor with resolution 12.1 megapixel brings variable possibilities
and high quality printed ...
