I have nothing but praises for the Canon Powershot S10 Digital Camera.
It is incredibly easy to use and produces sharp and clear photographs. It comes with a host of features such as adjustment of the white balance, resolution, shutter speed etc etc.
The Canon’s controls are laid out in a very organized way. On top are two controls, the shutter release button and a dial, which is used to select different modes. On the back are three buttons to control different picture taking features: macro mode, flash control, self-timer, and continuous shooting mode. There is a four-way control pad that is used for the zoom and for making choices from the menu. Another button controls the exposure compensation and the white balance. Another button turns the display on and off. And the final control is a rocker switch that is used to turn on the menu and to make selections from the menu. There is also a LCD on top, which displays info such as how the different features are set and how many photos you have left.
It also has a feature to line up panoramic shots which can then be patched together with the software, that is included, to create wonderful digital panoramas.
The zoom feature goes as high as 4X with a digital macro zoom but one of the disadvantages of this is that distance shots usually come out blurred but close ups using the zoom feature are okay.
More often than not you just need to point-and-click to get perfect shots, without touching a thing.
Any pictures that may require touching up and be easily edited with the software also included.
The camera connects to your computer using a USB cable that is included. The quality of this is very good and fast. Once you plug the camera into the cable the software automatically starts and you can download your pictures. It is a very easy and well-designed system.
Finally use the rechargeable battery, as the lithium camera batteries are expensive and can only last for about 100 pictures.
I bought mine, about six months ago, for PDS420.00 with the rechargeable batteries, adapter, USP cable and all the included software. Look around you might get a better deal
If you’re looking for a digital camera then this is probably the best one around.
Advantages: usb and serial, great quality pictures, compact Disadvantages: zoom is a little weak, 8mb card needs upgrading
This is the first digital camera that i have owned, but i have used quite a few. I have waited for a camera that is affordable and gives excellant quality pictures. This camera delivers, and i have had no problems. These are the resolutions available:
800x600,1280x1024,1600x1200
You will probably need to get a new compact flash card, as 8MB is not enough for those that want to make good use of the high resolutions available. I recommend 64MB, which ... ...The UK/European version is a complete package with charger, battery, mains adapter and all the cables you could possibly need. Beware the US version that does not come with all of this. Battery consumption is quite high, but this is common to all digicams and this one is definately no worse than any other. I recommend conserving power by turning the small screen off and just using the view finder. Unfortunately the zoom is a little weak being only ...

I have had this digital camera the Power shot S10 from cannon Model number PS1025 for about 3 years now. It takes great detailed pictures and has all the features you could want. The Zoom is amazing to get up close to your object with this pocket sized camera. It is an older model so even though it is small its not as small as the newer ones coming out. Also I never upgraded the picture card and I wish I did. This camera can only hold a most 12 pictures ... ...even less. That is if the battery even last that long. I have had problems keeping a charge in the battery since I bought it. It will take about 15 pictures with flash and LCD screen on before it will just turn off. That doesn't leave much room for screw ups. The battery also takes a few hours to charge so what took 10 mins. to shoot now has to charge a while before you can see them. First off, I should say that I don't own this camera, my Dad does. But that's not to say that I haven't used it extensively. In fact, I probably know more about the functions than my Dad does!

The reason this camera stands out from the crowd is it's huge 10x optical zoom. This on it's own is only slightly greater than some other brands, but combined with Canon's image stabiliser (the IS part of the name), it means that you can use the full zoom and take decent photos.
