Pros A great camera, which has a huge range of features and flexibility. It is very small, but powerful and the quality of the pics are professional standard. The 5 mega pixel quality it superb which makes it excellent to produce larger photo sizes, ie, A4 and up with no loss in pic quality. Very happy with its ease of use when auto is selected. It is then a good click and forget camera. The other options, ie manual, Av etc means with a suitable tripod, very complex shots in low, natural light can be taken.
Uploading the photos is a breeze and Photoshop 7 and 8 automatically import the pics. The software that is supplied is acceptable but seems to be too fussy to use comfortably.
As I scuba dive I also purchased the waterproof casing that works with the S50. This is fantastic and I have made some superb underwater shots. Better than anything achieved with the rental camera gear.
Cons However, the 32 Mb compact flash that is supplied is only just acceptable and it is certainly advisable to buy at least a 128 mb flash to allow more shots to be saved. No carry case provided,
