If you want the quality and features of an slr with the ease of use of a compact then this is the camera for you. the 8 megapixel resolution helps produce fantastic quality pictures which seems to be the norm with canons highly regarded DIGIC III image processor and lens based optical image stabilisation system. the lens has 10x zoom which i find is ideal for any medium range shooting. the S5 has a 2.5" 207k screen that can flip out from the back of the camera, it is bright with extremely good contrast, ideal for viewing photos after taking them. the S5 has a very clever face detection scheme which allws the camera to focus on the faces producing top notch photos, i had never previously experienceed this feature but i found it to be a huge hit. the price is not cheap, you'll pay upwards of £220 for the camera but quality is worth paying for.
