Following the Canon Powershot G10, Canon had launched two new twins digitals cameras : PowerShot SX1 IS and PowerShot SX10 IS. These two new Canon cameras jewels are based on the same sensor and the same approach, only few differences are between these two twins devices. The two new models are replacing the allready old PowerShot S5 IS. Featured by theires 20x (28-560 mm in 24 × 36) wide-angle optical zoom, Two quick and silent engines : USM engine for a quick and quiet zooming and a new VCM (voice coil motor) to focus silently with high precision. These two models are setting new high technology and new referances for potential zooming.

I recently recieved a Canon PowerShot SX10 for my birthday, i am very pleased with the quality of this camera. The pictures that it takes are of wonderful quality and you don't have to wait on the delay like alot of those cameras out there. Ever since i recieved the camera i have started selling my pictures, and have actually been making money for pictures that i take when i'm bored simply because the quality of the pictures are so good. This camera ... ...like a camera should. It is very comfortable to use and i is also very lightweight and portable making it easy to move around with and not get tired of holding in your hands. This camera was to replace my normal point and shoot camera. While, in my opinion, it is not as good as an SLR or something of that nature, this camera does what it does very well. It is fairly lightweight for an advanced camera. It is durable, and has fantastic picture quality. I absolutely love this camera and I love the features it gives me. Also, big plus is that it can do both pictures and video and the video quality is fantastic. It is like ... ...convenient machine. One con I would say in my opinion is that it uses 4- double A batteries rather than a rechargeable one. For some people this would be a plus, so keep in mind I just don't like this. You might want to invest in rechargeable double A's just to save on time and money. Definitely no regrets with this purchase for me. I'm 21, and somewhat into photography. PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
The camera came out in July 2007 so it's still rather new but hard, almost impossible, to find in shops because it was succeeded by
CanonPowerShotSX1 IS/CanonPowerShotSX10IS and when companies want to sell a new product they just stop selling the old one.
I made my purchase on ebay stealing a deal for 210 euro (around £180) still in guarantee for 10 months. New it would cost £300-£350. Definitely an expensive purchase. These cameras don't come exactly cheap and what's worse they don't come at all since it's almost impossible to find them. Nonetheless you might still find shops that still have them in stock and perhaps also discounted.
When new the guarantee is only 1 year but sometimes you can find them with 5 years guarantee extension. Beware though, if you buy it with 1 year standard guarantee you won...
