I like scuba diving, taking underwater photos and building computers myself. Plus i like to modify my car. For my main job i work on big passenger jets and in my spare time i am a First Responder.

I bought this underwater case for my Cannon Ixus 400 (which i have also reviewed) from Camerasunderwater.com for £140 including postage in 2004 to be used to take photos of my son while he was learning to swim as my wife thought it would be cheaper to take our own photos rather than pay for the courses own ones.
The housing came with an instrution manual, neck strap (never used it) a wrist strap, spare "O" ring seal and some grease.
The case is made out of clear plastic, and a glass lens which is screwed to the case and neoprine rubber which is on the inside of the case where the cameras zoom lens fits into, there is also an opaque plastic just over the lens infront of where the flash is on the camera itself which is used to defuse the flash underwater at nighttime.
All camera functions can still be used underwater with this case as there are push buttons inline with the cameras own buttons and a rotary knob which lines up with the mode knob on the camera, plus 2 more push buttons and a lever switch on the top of the case for power on, shutter release and zoom. There is also a screw plate on the bottom which is the same as a tripod mount would be but i believe this is infact used to add weights to the camera housing as when the camera is in the housing i have found it floats quite well.
The housing is rated to a max depth of 40m/130ft and so far i have used it to a maximum depth of 90ft at which i have noticed one problem and that is that the camera has cursed the case to fog up after 30 mins use but i'm sure if a Silca gel packet is used in the case it would stop that happening. ( which i will have to try next time i go diving)
I would happyly recommend this case to anyone who goes anywhere near water with their Ixus 400 camera.
