I studied a combined honours degree in Business Studies & Sport Science and I'd do it again without hesitation.

Initially Canterbury Christ Church wasn't top of my list, yet with an unexpected set of grades it was Canterbury that were the first to offer me a place and the chance to visit the campus. I visited for the first time on a snowy December day just a few days before Christmas. As I disembarked the train from London and walked up the High Street toward the campus it was almost picture perfect for the time of year with the old tudor shops and the smell of roasted chestnuts in the air.

On arriving at the campus it struck me that the majority of students there are reasonably local or from London and its suburbs. There are also a small number of foreign students from all corners of the globe. The atmosphere is very welcoming and doesn't suffer the stuffiness that you might experience at the more traditional red brick universities.

Following my visit they were quick to offer me a place on my chosen course. The administration at CCC Uni is very good, highly organised and seems to operate much more efficiently than at other establishments.

Accomodation is usually available to freshers and if you're lucky you'll get one of the newer places near the centre of Canterbury itself. Canterbury is a small city but manages to pack in everything that a student socialite needs. I can't say whether its true but I was told that Canterbury has the largest concentration of pubs per square mile than any other UK city. I was also quoted a ratio of 3 females to every male student?!

On Campus the student union gets lively on a regular basis and had a good range of DJs, live bands and comedians. The Uni is heavily sport orientated and the sports teams would take it in turns to run special nights throughout the year. Fresher week (2 weeks long??) is not for the faint hearted, but jump in with both feet and you'll find yourself a solid group of friends very quickly. Freshers Fair is where all the different societies and groups encourage you to sign-up for a few pounds. Beware! It's great to get involved but if you're not careful you'll get carried away and end up joining 8 or 9 clubs only to find that they all meet at the same time. From my experience though the sports clubs are well organised and achieve some fairly decent results.

IT facilities are good, yet with most Uni's you need a little bit of planning. Come exam season there may be the odd occasion when you fight over PCs. So too, the library had all the resources that I needed for research, but again get there before anyone else does. There are also plenty of photocopiers and printers to use once you've charged your card with a little cash.

Accomodation can vary a little. If you're not lucky enough to get into halls there are however plenty of cheap houses to rent within a ten minute walk of the campus. Stay close though because it rains a lot in Canterbury and a long trudge across town every day can become a drag.

Nightlife mainly consists of pubs and bars. There isn't really much of a club scene to talk of. The choice of pubs though is extensive and most are very student friendly.

Course tutors for both Business Studies and Sport Science are very approachable and supportive. That said, they all know how to set a challenge and you'll find the courses really get the grey matter ticking over.

I really enjoyed my three years at Canterbury Christ Church College. I made lifelong friends, studied a great course and really formed a great foundation for my career. I have no regrets and would recommend anyone toward Canterbury Christ Church College.
