I recently visited this University on an open day/interview. It was easy to get there, and although the campus isn't big, you still need a map to get around the place. I visited the several areas while i was there, the computing department, the Venue, halls of residence, and lecture theaters. There have been several new buildings at this Uni, and they all look fantastic. The library at this Uni is very big, the biggest i've ever seen for sure. The whole campus is networked together by lots of computers, just in the library alone there are about 200, all with net access via the 150Mbps backbone, and you can find lots more just about anywhere you go.
The Venue, a new nightclub built especially for the students is only 2-3 years old, and the inside is crazy, the design of the nightclub has won an award for best interior design when it first opened, and to understand why you really need to see it or yourself. There are two floors and there are bars on both floors. The top floor where you enter into is a place for talking and if your a real clubber, then you can go down the stairs and start dancing on the dance floor. It really is fantastic.
For students living awayfrom home, and you find money a major factor affecting your living, then you can find yourself a job at one of the campus shops, all run by the students there. Also there the Gulbenkian Theatre and a cinema which is great as yo can access these within 5-10 minutes walk.

Advantages: excellent view of the Cathedral, graduation ceremony at the Cathedral, intimate town Disadvantages: social dynamic, expensive, too conservative
This is a haven for middle-class home counties kids who didn't do as well as they ought in their A-Levels. It also sports a large number of foreign students who don't know any better and are quite happy to be ripped-off at the Student Union shop like the rest of us. Without a doubt the grounds of campus are picturesque, though the college buildings (a nightmare of 1960's concrete design) are reminiscent of a nuclear bunker complex....though others ... ...they are pretty ugly.
The cost of living on campus is fairly steep, but nothing on the cost of rent in the town. The saving grace of campus is the nightclub/bar setup called the Venue. It is relatively cheap to get in and drinks are fractionally cheaper than in the numerous bars of the town. The music is universally cheesy at the weekend, but every now and again there are live music nights and theme nights during the week which, due to their sparse ...

Advantages: lots of good advice, fun and helpful Disadvantages: not entirely obvious that it exists - 6 clicks away from home page
...across the web site for Canterbury University (www.cant.ac.uk). After reviewing the rest of the universities, I am left with no doubt that Canterbury have the best health web pages. They are very informative, user friendly, eye-catching and fun. Other uni's simply provide opening times of surgeries, or have a link to the Meningitis trust or similar, whilst having no real information on health concerns students may have. I am not giving a biased opinion, ...

Reviews which might be of interest for "Canterbury University"
I am currently a student at Canterbury College. I expected that being in one of the UK's biggest centres for learning that I would be getting first class education. But although the University seems to be fullfilling its expectations, the College lets Canterbury down. No matter how pretty they try to make it look with all the new buildings it is so disorganised it lacks any structure.
My class had an issue with a teacher and we wrote a formal letter to the head of our department explaining the trouble we were having. In our next lesson the teacher asked us what the problem was and we felt completely put on the spot. We had to lie and say that we were not happy with the timetable and the length of the lesson, we could hardly all start saying how we didnt like her teaching methods and didnt feel like we were learning anything, (she is ...
Advantages: Nice and quiet place for study, spacious campus with lots of facilities including a large library in the centre of campus Disadvantages: Far from other cities and towns which could be annoying for those who enjoy going as nightlife in canterbury is not that great!
I have just graduated from an Economics degree at the university and have ordered my robes and photographs for the graduation ceremony due to take place in the well known canterbury cathedral in July. Definately I would say that the past three years of university has been the best time of my life so far...and what a special place to have to celebrate the end of my uni life and have my graduation ceremony take place at the canterbury cathedral. It will certainly be an emotional day for myself and my family and also a day to celebrate the end of our degrees with my friends and other students in my course. Although I can see myself visiting the town and the university again in the future, I will definately miss being a student there.
Eventhough this university wasnt my first choice, I think that I was lucky to have chosen this university ...
Advantages: Friendly atmosphere Disadvantages: Exams in a row - a possibility!
One of the first things which struck me about the university of Kent was how friendly everyone was. Leaving everything you know and moving to a uni campus may not seem like the most easy thing to do but afer the first week I had already established friendships which lasted throughout the first and second years and hopefully for many more to come. The advantages of this uni are a) it is easy to get to Europe b) there are therefore many Europeans at the uni which makes life more exciting c)there are excellent programmes which allow students to study abroad d)there is an all too tempting nightclub on campus e)a short bus ride takes you to the historical city of Canterbury. There are few disadvantages to Kent uni however exam rules have changed forcing some students to have to take exams in a row which was previously unacceptable, though ...
