What is the first thing you think of when someone asks you what you remember about a well known movie? It could be the story. It could be the characters or the actors who play them. But quite often, it will be the soundtrack. With a few exceptions, most movies are accompanied by a memorable soundtrack which, more often then not, is a big hit. And that is why I have chosen to review Back To The Movies, an album full of hit records that have been made famous by various movies over the last twenty years.

Advantages: It is very cheap, sounds good and plays CDs - what more do you want? Disadvantages: Build quality is poor. Fiddly buttons on the remote
OK, it is normally priced at forty quid, but the nice people at Richer Sounds were having a sale. I have seen it at £20 on the net. You could buy a CD for that price! Unfortunately, I don't think it is available anywhere else, and may be hard to find.When I looked on Richer Sound's website, they did not have any in stock. However, it is worh looking on ebay for this.
The Eclipse is made in China and it is not going to win any design awards. The remote in particular has tiny, rubbery buttons on it, which are too close together and don't have a satisfying feel to them. On the player too, the controls are not very well laid out, with a centre mounted CD unit that actually obstructs some of the buttons when it ejects. This might not be a problem, you might think, as you aren't going to be using them with the tray out anyway - but to ...

Advantages: Glenn Close as Cruella. Disadvantages: Lack of originality.
When I first heard that they were making a sequel to the enjoyable 101 Dalmations I had not intention of seeing it, as I was pretty sure it would be dire. I then saw the trailer and my mind was changed by the appealing surrealness promised. Unfortunately I wish that I had stuck with my original instincts.
The films constantly appears to be trying so hard to be different to the first but ultimately fails at every step. Perhaps this is because 101 only had to copy a cartoon shot for shot but 102 had to write a new plot.
The only redeeming feature I can really think of is the excellent performance by Glenn Close as Cruella. Perhaps Disney might consider putting her in a non-canine based film. ...
