This review is based on a 2004 Renault Clio 1.216v Dynamique.
After having an accident in my previous Clio (a 1.616v Dynamique) I set out looking for a new car, eventually I found myself (after much looking) the following car?
A 2004 Renault Clio 1.216v Dynamique in flame red, the colour I really wanted, my previous car had digital climate control and an electric sunroof so I purposefully found a car that also had these features.
Being the 2004 model it had the face lifted front end (MK2 PH3)
The car I found had the following specification:
Performance:
Engine - 1.216v 4cyl MPI (multipoint injection)
Power - 75bhp
Torque - 105Nm
0-60 - 12.6secs
Top Speed - 106mph
Gearbox - 5 speed manual
Interior:
Sports seats
Digital Climate Control
Electric Sunroof with sunblind
Electric windows (one touch ...
Advantages: Beautifully presented little snippet of the future, post-His Dark Materials Disadvantages: Undeniable aftertaste of pointlessness
Anyone who has read any of my previous ops about books, audio books or children?s books, will have come across copious references to Philip Pullman, and my love of the beautifully crafted His Dark Materials. It is an extraordinary book, published as a trio of intelligent, pacy, fantastical novels: Northern Lights, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass. His Dark Materials ended oddly for me. Although it had been a long haul through The Amber Spyglass, and although ...
Advantages: Brilliant end to a brilliant trilogy. Short chapters: ideal stopping places Disadvantages: Much longer than the others. Very descriptive in the middle.
at a tangent in these parts.
Pullman touches heavily on the religious nature of the books in this third and final installment. I had to put that to the back of mind and regard it purely as work of fiction. 'His Dark Materials' has been used in the same sentence as words such as 'heresy'and 'blasphemy', and I could see why, but I just readit as an imaginative tale.
Having said that, there is little else I can say to criticise it. In terms of plot, it follows a few different paths of characters. The main character of the series is Lyra Belacqua, a girl who has the weight of saving the world(s) on her shoulders. Accompanying her is Will Parry, a boy the same age as her. Will is the bearer of the Subtle Knife (the title of the 2nd book), and together they travel through different worlds with the aid of the knife. They are aided by characters such ...
