I have been searching for something to write an op on and came across this, Capital One premier.
Capital One is a financial company who offer a number of financial services including credit cards. They have 4 different mastercards platinum, premier, classic and lifestyle. They offer cards to people with a great credit history and also to those of us who havent such a great credit history.
I received leaflets through my door and always binned them, until one day in November 2 years ago I received a leaflet offering me 2 hundred pounds instant credit on one of their credit cards, I was also promised that by using one of their cards that I would be able to rebuild my credit history.
With it only being a few weeks until christmas I used most of my credit on my card and then made my monthly payments, I could pay a minimum of 5 pounds if I wished or pay more if I had it. So some months if I was short I would pay around twenty pounds towards it and other months I would pay more.
I managed my card quite well and received a letter from them telling me that they would up my ballance from 2 hundred to 6 hundred, this was great at the time although I did watch what I was doing with it as I didnt want to get into a financial mess with this card, easier said than done...... One month my payment went in a day late and I was charged 20 pounds for late payment, This happened on a number of occasions and then I would also get an additional charge of 20 pounds for being over the limit, so in the end I was being charged rediculous amounts of money, and I couldnt get out of the hole.
The credit card has something like 16% apr on it and with this and the amount that they charge you for late payments and overlimits, if you are like me and get into a mess with it, you might wish that you had never set eyes on the company in the first place. I only ever received 6 hundred pounds from them, and I ended up paying them back 12 hundred! so be warned it is very easy to get tied up with this company and end up getting ripped off.
I made many calls to their main office to put a block on my card and stop any more interest and charges from being added, they would not agree to do this unless I could pay off all that was owed on the card, they did do this in the end, but it cost me an extra couple of hundred pounds before they agreed to let me pay off my debt by monthly instalments.
I wouldnt recommend this company unless you are very careful and do not let yourself gain any charges or overlimits to your account.

I wouldn't recommend Capitol One to anybody. You've no idea how many outstanding accounts I've had to deal with (debt collector) and how many people have said (angrily or upset) that they only spent about £500 and the outstanding balance was over £1000. Read the bloody small print dears. M x

Hey, I had a similar experience with these people. Had an accident last year and was in hospital for a couple of months, sent them a letter stating this fact and asking that my payment protection insurance, which I paid extra for, was used to cover the payments. I was assured this would happen. No such luck, I got charged late payment fees and over-limit fees. I refused to pay any additional fees at all and cleared my balance. After several conversations with various managers I got all charges dropped, as it were. I'm not over-impressed! Good op, Dave
