I don't actually drink that much anymore but on a recent night out, I was reminded of just how much I like Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum.

Captain Morgan
Sir Henry Morgan, better known as Captain Morgan was born in Wales in 1635 and was a successful buccaneer. In 1674 he was knighted by King Charles II and in 1690, he became the governor of Jamaica. In 1944 the Seagram Company began producing rum under the name of Captain Morgan Rum Company.

Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum
Spiced rum is very different to the usual white and dark rum. To be honest, I don't really enjoy the taste of alcohol (although I enjoy the effects) and I find that some of the other rums taste far too alcoholic for me. However, Spiced Rum is so drinkable as you really can't taste the alcohol content, just a nice mix of rum and spices, with an underlying hint of vanilla. It is sweet, but not overly so as the spices help to tone down the sweetness.
Spiced rum is a rich amber in colour and combines golden rum from throughout the Caribbean. According to the Captain Morgan website Spiced Rum is "aged to be mellow and enhanced with unique fruit flavours and spices (said to be cinnamon and cloves) and then enhanced with a hint of vanilla."
Each bottle of Captain Morgan Spiced Rum contains 35% alcohol but like I already said, you really wouldn't notice this.

Cost
I usually buy my Spiced Rum from Tesco's and here a 70cl bottle will set you back £13.98 which I think is fairly average for a bottle of spirits.

How To Drink It
I guess if you wanted to you could drink Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum neat although this is not how I prefer to drink it. The spicy flavour actually makes Spiced Rum a highly versatile product as it can be mixed with a selection of mixers to create a totally unique drink.

Spiced Rum and Coke
This is probably the most common mix of drink associated with Spiced Rum. You basically have a short glass with 1 (or 2, depending how strong you want it to be) shot of spiced rum. Makes a lovely spicy refreshing drink.

Cuban
This is also a very popular way of drinking Spiced Rum. You have one shot of spiced rum, one shot of lime cordial and fill the rest of the glass with coke. This is my all time favourite drink as the lime makes this drink extra sweet but the spice from the spiced rum stops it being too sweet that it becomes unpleasant! Some pubs/bars serve this version with a slice of lime instead of the shot or lime cordial. Either works really well although I probably prefer a fresh slice of lime.

White Cuban
This is exactly the same as the above drink, except that you have it with lemonade instead of coke. I have tried this drink and have to admit that I much prefer this product with coke. Although I find a White Cuban drinkable, I just feel that coke compliments the taste of the Spiced Rum better than lemonade does.

Puban
This version of drink contains 1 shot of spiced rum, a shot of blackcurrant cordial and the rest of the glass is filled with coke. I also really like this drink and the blackcurrant surprisingly doesn't make the drink any sweeter, it actually brings out the spicy flavour.

Spiced Rum can also be used to make a selection of yummy cocktails, just type Spiced Rum cocktails into Google and you will get hundreds of recipe ideas.

Availability
I have found that Spiced Rum is sold in all my local off licenses and large stores such as Tesco. Sainsbury and Asda. It is also sold in all my local pubs and I can quite happily ask for a Cuban and the bar staff will know what I am talking about.
However, my boyfriend and I recently went out in London for an evening and when I asked the bar man for a Cuban, he has no idea what I was talking about so I listed the ingredients and he had never even heard of Spiced Rum which to be honest, really surprised me. So on the whole, I know that Spiced Rum is readily available in shops, pub and clubs in Kent but further a field, I am not 100% sure if people will know about this product.

Summary
As you've guessed, I would 100% recommend this product. If you don't really enjoy the taste of alcohol and are looking for something that is smooth to drink, then I would certainly give this product a try. I like the fact that you can mix it with a whole number of mixers and create a brand new drink that tastes delicious. I think that this product offers fairly good value for money as its no more expensive that other brands of alcohol.
The one downside is that it doesn't appear to be available all over the country which is a real shame.
