I’m guessing the reason the installation was free was the model was being phased out and they wanted to clear their stock, but as long as it works, that’s fine by me.
The sales/technician guy who installed it took just 5 minutes to take out the old one and install the new one. As I thought, there was a (small) problem finding the right power connection, ... ...I noticed that the instructions have a section on how to install it yourself, though personally, unless you have some experience I find it less troublesome and frustrating if you get someone else to do it, even if it costs more (just remember to add the cost to the equation when your budgeting for your purchase).

I bought this stereo about two years ago when it was relatively up to date but since has been made to look like an antique already as do many electronic gadgets nowadays. I went to Halfords which is were I paid £120.00 for this unit and they installed it for me whilst I stood there it took about 15 minutes for the guy to fit it and looked very easy just undoing clips and replacing them with matching colored ... ...not fit myself and would always advise getting somebody to fit your new car stereo unless you really know what you are going in which case me telling you how to fit would be a waste of time anyway. What I can tell you if you know what you are doing when it comes to fitting is it has an ISO fitting switch and comes complete with the keys for securing and removing the cage that the stereo sits in again this was supplied with the unit.

I've had this stereo for 6 years and I love it. It is easy to install, looks good and has a great sound. The TFT display is clear and there are some good graphics on there (I normally have the one on the display picture). It plays mp3 discs but does not have a mp3 jack to connect your ipod/mp3 player which these days is a downside. The only real negative is that the face doesn't come off. It comes with a cover but I don't think that's fooling even ... ...code for security though. It comes with a remote for people in the back to use or to change over when you're listening outside the car but other than that I can't see the point in it.
All in all a very good stereo and I'm glad I bought it. ...

To my mind Sony is the safest when you are considering sound systems and there is no doubt that these guys does pioneering jobs as far as audio systems are concerned. I have always been against having a sound system fixed in my car because it tends to make me too cozy and vulnerable to possible mishaps.
