Lookers Renault Stockport - Avoid their Ex-demos
Advantages: None Disadvantages: Damaged car, never advised when purchasing!
I bought a Renault Clio 172 Cup from Lookers Renault in April 2004. The car was an ex-demonstrator, I had an incident with the car where I needed some repair work done to one of the wings...whereon I was advised by the bodyshop that some 'touch-up' paint had been used to cover damage! I was horrified, and it turned out that the car had been involved in some form of impact, and not repaired properly. I was absolutely mortified that I'd paid £12,500 ... ...a poor standard. The even more mortifying thing was that there was a Renault Megane 225 which had been front-ended and this would have been repaired in-house, and therefore not declared on the HPI reports for that car, just like it wasn't for mine. I would never purchase another car from them due to my experiences...I went to a dealer as I thought that would be the best to go to a Renault dealer rather than private or through a backstreet dealer. ...

Skoda Fabia - 1.2
Advantages: looks nice, fuel efficient, isofix points Disadvantages: not too good on the motorway
I recently purchased a new Skoda Fabia, as my old car was over 10 years old so I decided that I would trade it in using the scrappage scheme. I was very happy to find that I was going to receive £2,600 off the purchase price which made it more affordance for me to purchase the car. I did however purchase the basic model but for what I use the car for I don't really need anything else. I has two front airbags, isofix points for child seats and front ... ...and i have noticed that it is very fuel efficient for the journey's which I do. The car is very confortable and my other half who is tall can drive it with ease and there is planty room for one of my children to sit behind him. There is also adequate boot space and I managed to get my neices pram in it with a few shopping bags so I was very impressed. Overall this little car is 10/10 and I would recommend it to anyone who is doing the school run ...

...you buy a car from arnold clark beware less than a week after buying a new car from them i had to take it back because all four tyres leaked air until they where nearly flat in under a week also noticed lots of hidden scratches. when i took it back i was told i had to buy new tyres myself and to t cut the scratches myself if that was not bad enough when it came to my first service which i paid for in advance they pulled of the exuast heet shield ... ...it under warranty for free for me regarding the brakes that arnold clark tryed to charge £400 pound for vauxhall said they where fine nothing wrong with them they are almost new still. MY ADVICE IS NEVER BUY FROM ARNOLD CLARK IF YOU ARE A WOMEN OR PENSIONER OR DISABLED. ...

Complete waste of time!
Advantages: None that I can think of Disadvantages: Where do I start?
Started an auction via autoebid for Fiesta 1.6TDCI after first asking various questions which were at that point answered pretty quickly and politely. After 10 or so days, at end of auction, best price was still in excess of the price they had suggested, so rather than start another auction as autoebid suggested I agreed with them to split the difference and thus autoebid were to reduce their fee. And at that point it all went wrong!
First, they ... ...I received credit card statement. After many e-mails, which they took ages to respond to, I was eventually sent a cheque.
Once I received paperwork from dealer the delivery had moved forward 2 weeks. Then it moved forward again, and again. Nearly 16 weeks after order was initially placed, and nearly 5 weeks after promised delivery date the incompetent dealer cancelled the order, without even contacting me to confirm. ...rear] and my experience with Arnold Clark is woeful. Just as my 3rd Warranty was about to go out I had a few problems like Fuel Injection failure, not covered per se. Anyway whilst in another local garage for it's service I decided to get it's first MOT done. I was shocked to find that all 4 tyres were severely perished between the treads. The tread was fine since we'd only done 10,000 miles, I felt this was either the dealer (Arnold Clark) the manufcturer ... ...who should be responsible. Arnold Clark were useless & felt it was up to me to chase it elsewhere - I did, but no joy. The company that I got to replace all 4 tyres reckoned that the tyres had perished probably because the car had been parked on a wet muddy field (we've all seen the photos of hordes of 'new' cars lying outside in fields) for a couple of years before I'd bought my 'new' car.
