Go further with Optimax.....................
Advantages: Fuel Economy, Overall Engine Performance Disadvantages: Estra Cost over standard unleaded
I have recently bought the new Honda Civic 2006 (1.8 SE I-Vtec).
Since march the first I have filled up the tank about 4 times (using standard unleaded - mostly from Sainsbury's!!!)
My father in law suggested trying out Optimax when I next fill up (he drives a BMW 320 SE). The main reason was to help maintain the engine - he suggested every 3 re-fills fill up with optimax. We both didnt envisage any performance enhancements by using optimax.
However,
... ...computer notifies me that I have about 390 miles to my next fill up (after about 5 miles driving). But by the time i I got to work yesterday, the trip computer was saying I had 449 miles till my next fill up!!! Also, around town Im averaging 40mg as opposed to approx 36mpg with the normall unleaded. Hopefully the extra 5 quid for a full tank of optimax will be overshadowed by the more mileage gained.
Also, I have noticed quicker acceleration and ...

Verstile WD - 40 to the rescue
Advantages: A great versitile product. Disadvantages: Must use in a ventilated space
...I have now started using WD-40 to do the job for me. I just spray a little on to the sticker leave for a few moments and then remove the sticker easily as the solvents in WD 40 cause the adhesive to lose its stickiness. 2. Removing grease and grime from hands. When my husband has been working on the car and his hands are covered in greasy and black with grime he just spray some WD-40 on to his hands rubs them together and then uses a paper towel ... ...simply spray a bit of WD-40 on to the mark and then with a cloth wipe away. However, I have not tried this on wallpaper although it is supposed to have the same effect. 4. Removing oil stains from the drive. My husband used WD-40 to remove a small oil spot from the drive by spraying the area and then hosing it down with water. 5. Getting rid of thistles. I sometimes get huge thistles growing in the garden and I was told by a neighbour some years ...

Under pressure!
Advantages: Easy to use, accurate, saves going out to the garage, good value Disadvantages: None
...particular task! The Halfords LED Digital Tyre Pressure Gauge is a tool you can use at home to help you find out the PSI (Pound per square inch) of your car tyres. It's cheap, simple to use and saves you unnecessary trips to the petrol station to check them only to find out that they didn't need pumping up anyway. My dad gave me our one, but they are widely available in all Halfords store for around the £17 mark, which I think is quite good value ... ...long sat on the floor! Halfords are currently selling these tools for £16.99 which I think is great value. As I mentioned, mine is slightly older than the one currently available so it probably has some different features such as a light, but the principle is exactly the same. It's so handy to have around the house as it means you don't have to make pointless trips to the garage just to check your pressures, and because you won't use it that often, ...

Brilliant if you are doing the job properly.
Advantages: Produces an amazing, flawless finish that lasts for weeks. Disadvantages: Not for the sloppy car cleaner. Marks black plastic trim quite harshly. Hard to remove if wet.
...of my friend's father recommended AutoGlym products and I spotted some 'Super Resin Polish' on a trip to Halfords. AutoGlym claims on the bottle that it is the polish of choice for Aston Martin, Lagonda, McLaren and Aston Martin... Must be good eh? As soon as I used it for the first time on my car, I was absolutely hooked. It really is unbelievable how good the paintwork of the car comes out after you buff the polish off and it's also hard to believe ... ...smears on for a while. AutoGlym recommend performing other tasks such as cleaning windows while you wait for the polish to dry. I usually start packing away the washing products. Once it's been left for 10 or so minutes, the smeared on polish hardens. Then comes the extremely satisfying part. You need a completely clean and dry soft cloth and I'd recommend a second cloth of the same style for after... You go round the car, wiping off the dried polish. ...

Mer - it's what they are talking about in my local!
Advantages: easy to use, long lasting Disadvantages: looks like a product for a man!
I came accross Mer a couple of weeks back whilst talking to a group of friends, one of which has just bought a Porsche. Boys being boys, the discussion came around to shiny bodywork and one of our group suggested Mer polish. I understand that the benefit of Mer polish is that it lasts (for months apparently) which is perfect for me - a girl who isn't that hot on cleaning or polishing her car! Having not heard of Mer before I wasn't sure whether I ...
