tom tom one xl
Advantages: simple operation inbuilt safety camera detection comprehensive coverage Disadvantages: mounting suction cup prone to lose grip on bumpy roads
The TomTom one xl is in my opinion the best navigation aid in it,s price range. Further I would with no hesitation say. it gives systems out there that cost £3000 or more a run for their money. Having previously owned the TomTom go. which I found to be of great usefullness . This improved and updated device satisfactoraly adresses any slight niggles the TomTom gomay have had. I found the route calculation speed to be fast The device also has many ...

Garmin Nüvi 200W review
Advantages: easy 2 use. good strong signal, always Disadvantages: no traffic lights camara warning. out of date maps. bought dec. 08, wont find :new: roads that hav
As a 100.000 mles a year long distance courier driver, a good sat nav is very important to me. updated because my old sat nav, at 3 years old, was getting a bit dated. OLD SAT FINDS ROADS THAT 200W CANT. maps seem 2 be way out of date. the only sat nav that i know off that does not have traffic light camara's warning. had i known this, it would have been the one thing that would have stopped me buying it. Good points? does what a sat nav is made ...

British English not so British!
Advantages: Ease of use. Price. Disadvantages: Seems to like "scenic routes"!!.
...shop, I finally chose the Garmin Nüvi 255 to replace the Mio which I really didn't get on with. The 255 makes it very easy to select and save a destination, the instructions are loud and clear and the holder supports the unit firmly on the windscreen.
I have the voice set to British English but (to my irritation) "she" insists on saying, in an English accent, for example, "two hundred fifty" instead of "two hundred and fifty". I haven't used the ... ...certain circumstances, other Americanisms will creep in which sound bizarre when spoken in an "English" (i.e. not regional) accent.
Although I have set "Navigation, Avoidances" to include only "Unpaved Roads", the unit insists on trying to take me along winding country lanes and this in the area around my home which I know well and when I would use much "better" roads which are possibly shorter and quicker in the long run. In "Navigation" I have ...

TomTom really have the market sussed
Advantages: Great customisation features, big clear screen, easy to use Disadvantages: Battery life, no wall charger included
...This versions of the TomTom includes the latest maps of the UK & Ireland. You can get some TomTom's which have maps of Europe in them, but as I'm not planning on road trip around Europe anytime soon I went for the UK & Ireland version. Another big factor on choosing this one was the fact that the Europe edition was £80 more expensive at the time & after checking just now I noticed they haven't changed in price as I presumed they would have done either. ... ...connect to your phone. My TomTom sometimes stops at 40% for about 20 seconds or so then connects up within about a minute or so or sometimes when it stops at 40% it says connection failed, try again? Which can be very frustrating.
A great feature with this sat nav is the voice recognition it comes with, this is especially great if you are driving at the time of operating this & saves you from taking your eyes off the road. It recognises your voice ...

Don't drive a car without one!!!
Advantages: Great voice promts, fast route calculation, great user interface..... Disadvantages: I honestly have not found any!
...follow the allocated route the tomtom recalculates a new route within seconds by-itself. This saves endless time with a map.
In my opinion the tomtom offers the best user interfaces in satnavs today. It is easy to use and you do not have to read a novel of an instruction manual to be able to use it.
In my opinion if you own a car then you NEED one of these. ...
