Better sat nav systems available for price!

Advantages: Good screen, clear voice skins, looks nice
Disadvantages: Innacurate instructions on complex roads, poor speed cam info, lack of updates

Recently bought the Binatone Carrera X430 W for general everyday driving around the UK. As I travel quite a lot, I needed a sat nav that could give me clear and precise instructions, accurate road positioning, and information on points of interest and speed cameras. I found the X430 didn't really live up to my expectations on these points. The instructions were clear, however were not very accurate, taking me off the road and nearly into the path ...
...speed cams on Binatone website ... and it may have homicidal personality! For the money it costs for one of these, I would recommend a Tomtom or Garmin system - much more accurate and better updates. Have since switched to using a Tomtom One V3, and no probs. ...

Binatone X350 - Very poor

Advantages: You get your money back if you keep your receipt safe
Disadvantages: The main disadvantage is the Binatone X350!

I brought the Binatone X350 from Asda for £50 on the 5th April 2009. I opened the box in the car park and thought I'd test it out. Anyway, first impressions we're it looked good for £50, after all you get what you pay for and obviously I hadn't purchased a £350+ Sat Nav. ...manual refers you to the Binatone website to download maps, don't bother you can't download maps at all! The icing on the cake comes when the unit says turn left and displays right, no this is not a joke! After using this Sat Nav for 3 days I think £24.99 is a more fair price, who knows it could even be sponsored by the police/dvla and petrol stations sending you 90mph through numerous speed cameras in the wrong direction. Avoid this Sat Nav at all ...

Review of Binatone X350

Easy as A to B

Advantages: Easy to use
Disadvantages: none for the money

...lovely though than my new Binatone A350 Sat Nav. I used to have a Navman PiN 570, which was also a PDA. The connector on the bottom of this broke free from the main board and from then on I was unable to charge it. From my short experience of the A350 I cannot see this being a problem on this unit. The charging connecting is that of the small USB type, for both charging from the USB port of my PC and from the cigarette lighter socket in the car. ...

Mio Moov Spirit 300 Traffic

Advantages: Generally everything
Disadvantages: High priced updates £79 which is a lot for an occasional user

...this week (£60 at Morrisons),the mio moov m300. Running through the menus is very easy and so is planning or searching for your route. This model has lane guidance which can be useful at motorway intersections and complex junctions in the city. The voice instructions are nice and clear and the volume is excellent and I also like the night and day screen settings. I tried it out in my home city and asked it to take me to a fairly difficult destination ...
...that was planned by the mio and it recalculated to my new route almost instantly. This model has navpix, this allows you to enter a destination via a geo tagged photo but in my opinion I cannot see much point in it.
