Blaupunkt TravelPilot Lucca 3.5 Edition : Stylish and functional.
Advantages: Lots of features. Disadvantages: Takes a minute to pick up a signal.
Good package *This satnav has a picture viewer and an MP3 player. Unfortunately no bluetooth. *The speed camera locations are included without a warning sound, some other products only offer this as a subscription service. You can set it to sound a warning tone if you exceed the prevailing speed ( displayed on screen ) in a 40 or 50 zone, but not in a 30 zone. It also has a speed and altitude indicator. *You can search for points ... ...can search by postcode or street address, but it wont tell you the postcode if you only have the street name ( unlike a Tom Tom ). *Displays symbols for service stations, shops and underground, etc. These appear on the map with brand logos. eg: "M" for MacDonalds. *You can select Route options based on your chosen type of route or speed profile.Choose your route to avoid motorways, toll charges, ferries, tunnels, or even seasonal changes. ...

Blaupunkt TravelPilot in Fords
Advantages: An idea if you really don't know the area. Disadvantages: Limited, outdated mapping, not so easy to use
...Fiesta, delivered this month, the Blaupunkt TravelPilot comes fitted in a unit combined with the radio.
To try this system out, over a period of three weeks, and a total of about 600 miles, entirely within my home county of West Yorkshire, i ran the TravelPilot alongside my own local knowledge of the area built up over 17 years of driving around the area.
To enter a destination it is necessary to go through a menu and a series of entries not wholly ... ...is a form of predictive texting, which can be quite useful.
The problem I found, though, was that before I could find the way to, say, Huddersfield Police Station I needed to know what road it is in. There seems to be no provision for places like hospitals or police stations as destinations.
Back to the AtoZ to get the road name. The GPS link does try hard to locate the unit, but I discovered that much of the time when I was not on motorway or ...

Blaupunkt E1 Travelpilot
Advantages: Clear verbal instructions, very easy to use, dashboard intergrated makes it less "nickable" and a detachable facia, can do miles or KM Disadvantages: Does not give you idea of where you are, eg if your near points of interest, cant review whole route, so you cant check it out on a map
I bought this system with a 5 disc cd system, the whole lot came in at a whopping £600. However, that aside, it was fantastic, we did a 3500 mile trip around France, Spain, Italy, switzerland and UK in 3 weeks. HELGA as we called our travelpilot, did not let us down once. Your can enter a postcode of anywhere in europe and she takes you to the door, you can get her to find you the nearest petrol station, very useful as I have a Total fuel card, she ... ...memory, she tells you about toll roads, speed cameras and with the TMC option - traffic congestion, then she jumps into life and wow finds a way around the lot.
Dare you take the option to not take motorways and she will take you down some of the most picturesque and isolated roads you will ever go down. We thought she had gone bonkers , no she then took us back to civilisation and we all had a wonderful day.
Buy one is the best advice I can give ...

This is a mobile G.P.S. navigator with a multimedia player. It has large 4inch 16:9 touch sensitive display and comes complete with a rechargeable battery pack, charger, a wire antenna for TMC and mobile mounting cradle. The G.P.S. has 3 push buttons to turn the unit on or off, menu and Info. On the ... ...right side a power socket and S.D .card slot. Underneath there is a U.S.B. socket, serial port ( for connecting to the cradle and a reset button. The rear of the unit has the speaker and sockets for the T.M.C. antenna and an external G.P.S. antenna (optional accessory).
