An absolute piece of tosh!

Advantages: Erm....do I have to?
Disadvantages: Lots. Useless map, useless features, not intuitive, takes you wrong ways.

...the plunge and purchased the Mio C210. He should have backed off as soon as he read Mio as the brand name. Stay clear of anything that sounds like a cat. Anyways, to shred a long story very short, the purchase rendered this man in an even more hopeless situation than before. The best bit was looking at the neatly packed box with all the dangly bits and pieces nicely wrapped up. The troubles began when the Mio C210 was put into action on a trip to ...
...feels like when using the Mio C210. It loses its way quite a few times taking you where you never want to be and never been before. In that respect, at least, it wins hands down. It asks you to turn into cul de sacs. It asks you to turn into no-entry roads. It goes berserk at times figuring out what to do really. On a few occasions, it took me down some farms. If it weren't for the millions of sheep, I wouldn't have known I was in Wales. Notwithstanding ...

A receiver... not well informed

Advantages: Price
Disadvantages: Few instructions, maps not so good, low volume always

...By turning on the MIO C-250 for the first time you have to set the data for the initialization like hour and day or your personal POI (points of interest) as your favourite departure/arrival address (this last thing is not necessary but so useful!). The use is not so easy for two reasons: - First one: the abstruse way the menu works that forces you to search in different sub-pages to make chained operations - Second one: the insufficient ...
...which is as for me decidedly useless: you can transform MIO in an mp3 player by using SD card. After all this little gadget made me save lots of time... and is still making. So my judgement can only be almost positive. review already published on other websites ...

Mixed blessing - brilliant and dreadful!

Advantages: compact and portable
Disadvantages: can stop working at the most inconvenient times

We bought the Mirac Mio 269+ mainly to use in navigating our motorhome around Europe. The unit has a built-in map of most of Europe so there is no worry about crossing borders. It is a small piece of kit and can easily fit into a pocket for walking or biking, there is even a cycle mount included in the price as well as the usual vehicle holder. The battery is rechargable and a 12V vehicle unit is included as well as a mains charger. There is no ...
...can't anyway! The V2.0 Mio map is still proclaimed on the advertising blurb as being 'new', but other models have Mio map V3.0. Apparently there is no intention to upgrade the 269+ to V3.0. That is a pity as V2.0 is well out-of-date and needs replacing. I guess we got what we paid for but it wasn't worth it! The support from Mitac is difficult to say the least, non exsistent is closer. My advice is to pay a bit more and get quality from the outset, ...

Stressfree travel! No more maps

Advantages: Stress free, easy travel
Disadvantages: Can get confusing if you are driving on a new road that isn't on your map!

TOMTOM ONE 3rd edition. I got my tomtom as a Xmas present last year, and wow what a present it was. I like to whizz off for weekends away with my daughter, somerset, Cornwall, London etc and I have always used AA route planner before, which was great, but reading whilst at the wheel isn't really that safe is it! I have also found I can get very stressed if I am trying to find my way somewhere and miss a turning etc. Using the TOMTOM makes my travel ...
...1) Driving around London, tomtom made that so easy, I could spend my time concentrating on what the taxi's and white vans were doing and the computer told me where to go, SIMPLE. 2) On a holiday to Portugal I used my Dads edition Europe. It was fantastic, all I had to do was concentrate on driving on the correct side of the road. What would have normally been a stressful driving experience was a very normal driving experience. SO WHAT IS A SAT NAV? ...

Garmin NÜVI 1390 easy to use.

Advantages: Very Simple to Use, Screen large and clear
Disadvantages: Can't think of any

Garmin NÜVI 1390 is very simple to use - up and running after just a few clicks to set your location. The colour screen is large and clear, you can zoom in or out (which I find very useful) whilst viewing maps. On major junctions it also displays on the screen all the different lanes and which one you should be in. There's a lot of different voices that you can choose from, in almost every different language. I've used mine on around 10 long journeys ...
...spot on (my previous sat nat would have me going round in circles). It has a handy feature whereby it beeps when it detects a speed camera, although I have now turned this off as where I live there are speed cameras around every corner, so it was constantly beeping. It managed to pick up a satellite signal whilst inside my house, which my old sat nav never did. Battery life is good - mine lasts around 4 hours. It also comes with a cigarette charger, ...
