Road Angel Navigator 6000
Advantages: Tough, simple to use and lots of features. Disadvantages: Recharging takes a while. Sluggish finding intial GPS on start up.
...the memory to upload to Road Angel later and get added to the database for other users.
It has various alerts that can be switched on and off at will. One of the most useful is the warning that you have exceeded a set speed. Useful to keep you to a set speed limit and if you come across any cameras that have not been entered in the database yet! ...

Road Angel Compact - REVIEW - A must have
Advantages: Detects most cameras Disadvantages: Not 100% accurate.
The road angel compact is one of the leading brands of speed camera detectors.
Plugged into a cigarette lighter, the unit sits in a cradle (attached to windscreen by suction pads).
The Road Angel Compact detects:
Gatso
TruVelo
SPECS Watchman
Speedcurb
DS2
(and a few others).
There is also the option to enable accident blackspots, schools, railway crossings and mobile cameras.
The system works by synchronization with the road angel server ... ...server during synchronization.
The Road angel compact looks great. Sitting neatly in the cradle, the neon blue screen gives it style. On detection of a speed camera on the road the screen flashes red - and an audible beeping (volume adjustable) is heard. Even with the stereo on quite loud, I can hear the beeping.
You can purchase the Road Angel Compact from as little as £145. An additional product - the laser detector can also be purchased and ...

Road Angel 7000 for cyclist
Advantages: Weatherproof, can load OS 1:50k maps Disadvantages: Bike mount poor, no safety lanyard, battery life limited
...might use it off road on the Bicycle as well as on the road and in the car
On the road it works. But I don't like having to reprogram the volume every time I turn it on. It can only access 400Mb Memory-map files so loading all the UK 1:50k in bite size lumps is very very tedious
On the bicycle it is weatherproof but has a fundamental flaw, like the PDA. Its screen requires a backlight to see anything so total run time is short. I carry a spare ... ...on the Road Angel. A GPS has a different screen technology that can be viewed without a backlight. Also for prolonged use the GPS can be run using its USB cable connected to a battery, whereas the Road Angel usb cable does not seem to supply it with power. The bike mount is simply a bike clamp on which the standard car mount fits. OK for riding on civilised flat paths and roads but is no where near strong enough for the rough stuff. Design flaw 2 ...

Mio Moov Spirit 300 Traffic
Advantages: Generally everything Disadvantages: High priced updates £79 which is a lot for an occasional user
...this week (£60 at Morrisons),the mio moov m300.
Running through the menus is very easy and so is planning or searching for your route.
This model has lane guidance which can be useful at motorway intersections and complex junctions in the city.
The voice instructions are nice and clear and the volume is excellent and I also like the night and day screen settings.
I tried it out in my home city and asked it to take me to a fairly difficult destination ... ...that was planned by the mio and it recalculated to my new route almost instantly.
This model has navpix, this allows you to enter a destination via a geo tagged photo but in my opinion I cannot see much point in it. I would have rated this sat nav as excellent but unfortunately the price wanted for map and speed camera updates are ridiculous it would be cheaper to buy a new sat nav each year,so I can only rate it as good for the money. ...

This means there is no need to download complicated software, just plug in and start using. TomTom ONE comes with the latest maps of Western Europe.
I got this at xmas from Currys ... ...fits perfectly into my pocket or handbag and is perfect for when I travel to football ground around the country. It charges via the USB on my laptop or in car charger. It has various free voices that I can download from the internet and I can also get numerous free updates. I also got a free speed camera cd with the box which was worth £19.99 so was an added bonus. Only problem I have found is that every so often it is losing the GPS signal and becomes ...
