Excellent product, let down a little in one area
Advantages: Safe; Simple; Secure Disadvantages: Potential for damage to the roof of your car
...delighted when I found out Thule had started making a foot pack which fitted the 750 roof rack system.
'Thule 750' refers to the generic bar holders from Thule, the big black chunk that actually sits on your roof. Different foot packs have been devised to fit the shape of your particular car's roof, and the foot pack comes with instructions on how far apart the feet have to be both side to side and fore & aft (as well as a handy paper tape measure ... ...hard rubber compound, designed to be grippy on your roof, while also not marking the paintwork (more on that later).
The bars that attach can be rectangular, or the more aerodynamic oval (I got a free upgrade to the oval bars after the rectangular sold out). Items such as bike carriers can then be mounted, either by the traditional method of straps or screwed in 'U' shaped brackets, or using Thule's T-Track (on the aero bars), where a slot in the ...

Magnofuel. Fuel line Magnets
Advantages: MPG improves by 15%. Significant CO2 reductions. One time cost Disadvantages: Takes about 1000 miles to show improvements
Product: Magnofuel Based on sound, Nobel prize winning physics principles
Do they work?
Yes, they improved my fuel consumption from 8.2 miles per litre (36.9 mpg) to 9.4 miles per litre (42.3 mpg) on a diesel Renault Espace. These figures are averaged over time and different types of driving.
How Do They Work?
Trying to keep this simple! The work of Felix Bloch (Stanford University) and Edward Purcell (Harvard University) led ... ...pioneered the early day Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Imaging systems used in medicine. Applying these principles to everyday fuels (which are principally hydrocarbons; petrol, diesel, liquid propane gas, methane etc) the magnetic field induced in the fuel causes changes in the molecule's behaviour such that:
*hydrocarbons flow more evenly and therefore burn more efficiently
*the hydrocarbons (fuel) attract the negatively charged oxygen ensuring complete ...

Good bush! Bad bush!
Advantages: Better handling, firmer ride. Disadvantages: hard work
...and I decided to give Deflex another try. They sent the correct set out first time around. I was even able to use a couple of bushes from the original MK1 Escort set. (not that, that really counts) More or less the same problems as the RS1600i but this time with less hassle in the ordering department. The ride quality is better that it was and it defiantly makes the cars firmer in the cornering / suspension department. Was I happy. Yes and no. With ... ...to wait a long time before I got the parts. They didn't fit as well as expected and are not as easy to fit as most OEM Ford items. If the service improves (which I am sure it will), then I would recommend Deflex as a cheaper alternative. ...

Basic workhorse which matches its rivals
Advantages: Cheap; Secure; Lockable; Easy to mount a bike Disadvantages: Looks basic
...safely and securely.
The Thule 575 is a perfect example of a product which does exactly what it's supposed to do, with very little fuss, and for incredibly reasonable value.
Use of this carrier is simplicity itself. The front and rear wheels of the bike sit in plastic cradles at either end of the carrier, you lift the central arm up so that the clamp is around the downtube on the bike (the one that runs down from the front of the bike to the cranks) ... ...are then secured by straps around the cradle which 'ratchet' into place with a hard pull.
Different width down tubes are easily accommodated with the lever on the clamp able to be placed in two different positions, and turning it clockwise or anti-clockwise to screw in the gap narrower or wider. The lever, once closed and holding the bike, can also be locked.
The carrier itself attaches to the roof bars either by straps, or with Thule's T-Track ...
