Jane Matrix Cup
Advantages: Lie flat position for Baby, very well padded, very secure fit in the car Disadvantages: takes a bit longer than some to install
...I decided to use the Jane Matrix cup for our latest arrival who was born at 29 weeks. Having read all the research about the lie flat position for babies in car seats and being well aware that we would be using the seat for periods well in excess of half an hour stretches we felt that this was the safest way to go. The test done at the special care unit confirmed this for us. Our little one averaged 100% oxygen saturation during the hour long test ... ...and you can't get better than that!!
The seat itself is really well padded and cozy with good harness strap pads and buckle pad to ensure our little one is comfortable. The covers are all washable on a hand or machine delicate wash and are fairly straightforward to put on and take off. The seat is a really good size, in fact when it's in the upright position it is much bigger than other infant carriers on the market which meant that we did not get ...

But is it safe
Advantages: See below Disadvantages: Takes up rear seat, takes some getting used to fitting
The Jane Auto Carrycot is a classically styled carrycot that can be used on a variety of chassis, from a trendy 3 wheeler to a very traditional sprung chassis, which can also be used in the rear of the car.
Some of you may remember the days when carrycots secured in cars were the norm in baby transport; some of you may have been in those carrycots in those days!! But then along came the infant car seat, and everything changed.
Advances were made ... ...in comes systems like the Jane Auto carrycot, simply fitted using the cars existing seat belts.
This is no bog standard carrycot either; it boasts features such as externally adjustable backrest positions and an air circulation mechanism that maintains air flow within the carrycot.
So how much will this cost you? Well, the price varies depending upon chassis, but anywhere from £395 to £470 for a complete system.
As retailers, one of the questions ...

Are we nearly there yet?
Advantages: safe, easy to install Disadvantages: sun fading
When I was expecting a baby and first looked into car seats, I had no idea quite how complicated it was, or indeed how many different models the average child would get through before a seat could be dispensed with - when I was a child seatbelts weren't even obligatory in the back. My mother, with absolutely no irony, fondly tells the tale of how someone shunted the back of their Morris Minor showering my carry cot with broken glass, which I apparently ... ...on somewhat! The law in Britain now requires children to have a car seat up to age 12 or until they are 135cm tall. When my eldest child turned 4, and realising that if she turns out as vertically challenged as I am that she would need a seat for a while, I researched and bought this particular seat, from Maxi-Cosi. Reasons for Purchase:
I chose this model as it had scored highly on the "Which" reports, and also as it had a reclining feature, ...

silver cross ventura, bulky and hardwork
Advantages: comfy for baby, secure in car Disadvantages: heavy, bulky, hard to get in car
...seat as I had the Silver Cross 3d, so I wanted to use car seat as part of the travel system.
This car seat is very heavy, so moving it in and out of the car can be hard work. I have another car seat which is much lighter.
Very tricky to attach into the car with the seatbelt, especially if you have short seatbelts, cars with longer seatbelts make it alot easier.
It is quite noisy, what I mean is, if my baby fell asleep in the car, and I wanted ...

Maxi Cosi Make It Maxi Easy At A Maxi Price
Advantages: Makes getting an infant into and out of the car a doddle. Disadvantages: Pricey.
...we invested in a new Maxi Cosi Cabrio car seat for our newborn son, I resigned myself to at least another year of back seat ballet. However, my resourceful wife informed me of a product called “Easybase” which allows the car seat to be clicked in place very simply, without the seatbelt. Intrigued and hopeful, I decided to investigate. WHAT IS IT? Easybase is a heavy base suitable for most cars which uses the three point seat belt on the back ... ...base for compatible car seats. Maxi Cosi car seats have two metal bars underneath, and these easily click in to the retaining mechanism. It is available on Amazon for £71.50, and also comes in a more expensive Isofix version (£92.69). It is suitable for children up to 13 kilos (up to about a year old). HOW IS IT FITTED? At 11 kilos, the Easybase is very heavy – a feature that ensures a solid platform for the car seat. Our version was simply ...
